What are some helpful tips for students starting their first year at Thiagarajar College of Engineering?

RI
Rohini Iyer Posted On : November 4th, 2022
B.E from Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India (Graduated 2016)

Whatever anyone says, a CGPA of 8.0 or higher is required to graduate. A CGPA of 10.0 is insufficient for a bright future. Try out all of the following activities.

Enroll in sports, NCC, NSS, or cultural activities that interest you from the first year. When you graduate, you'll be extremely proud of your decision. Whatever extracurricular activities are planned, simply participate and do your best. Join a leadership club that molds you and exposes you to how a leader should/will act in all situations. Most importantly, put your leadership skills to the test whenever possible.

Take your SIGs seriously and make sure you travel all over the country for project presentations. You end up improving your resume while also traveling with friends.

Finally, consider your college future as an investment in your future self. Do whatever you want. Enjoy life in the ways mentioned above.

How can I do BSc Mathematics major through IGNOU?

SS
Santosh Singh Posted On : October 19th, 2022
B.Sc. Mathematics Honours from IGNOU (Graduated 2017)

If you are willing to get admission at IGNOU for B.Sc. Mathematics you can follow the following steps:

  • choose minimum 40 credits worth of Mathematics electives

  • you have to choose/opt your Mathematics electives according to year wise scheme i.e some electives in first year, some in second year and rest are in third year.

  • Remember you cannot opt a 3rd year elective course in first year or second year. You can opt a first year course in second year or third year. Similarly a second year course in the third year. This is why there are less than 24 credit options of Mathematics electives.

  • Online registration system eliminates the already selected electives automatically. This is the reason you don’t get MTE1 or MTE6 etc. options in your second year reregistration options list.

MTE 06 is the toughest paper so try opting other electives.

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : August 3rd, 2023
lives in New Delhi

Both LNMIIT and Thapar University are highly regarded institutes in the country. However, while choosing one over the other you would like to consider the following points.

Cutoff: LNMIIT cutoff is generally higher than Thapar University cutoff therefore it has a better crowd than Thapar University.

Fees: LNMIIT first year fees are ?3.75 Lakhs while that of Thapar University is ?4.61 Lakhs.

Location: Thapar University is situated in a better location right in the main town of Patiala whereas LNMIIT is located on the outskirts of Jaipur.

Legacy: Thapar is one of the oldest and most reputed institutes almost 60 years old while LNMIIT is comparatively new.

Placements: The placements scenario can be better understood through the table below

Particulars

LMNIT

Thapar University

Highest CTC

INR 53.87 LPA

INR 40 LPA

Average CTC

INR 14.2 LPA

INR 10.97 LPA

From the above table, it can be inferred that LNMIIT has a better placement scenario than Thapar University.

Overall,  I will advise you to go for LNMIIT if you are getting CSE but for other branches, Thapar University is good.

Can a branch be upgraded in NIT Kurukshetra?

SR
Sumit Roy Posted On : September 2nd, 2023
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra

Yes, NIT Kurukshetra allows branch upgradation if you are unsatisfied with your current branch subject to certain conditions

  • Vacant Seats: The chances of changing your branch depend upon the vacancy of seats since the seat intake is fixed. Each branch has a specific number of seats allocated to it by the institute and that cannot be changed. So there has to be at least one seat vacant in the branch you want to get transferred to. A few students drop out of college or go to better colleges thereby vacating seats.
  • Demand for the branch: The next factor that will be considered is the demand for that branch. The more in-demand the branch is the lesser the chances of getting transferred. For example, IT and CS are highly demanded branches while ECE is least demanded.
  • CGPA: One of the most important factors, often underestimated, is your CGPA. Your CGPA for the first year decides your eligibility to get a good upgrade. The higher your CGPA is, the higher your chances of branch upgradation.

The factor that is in your control is your CGPA so start working on it!

What should I prefer GEC Goa CSE or EEE in NIT Goa?

SU
Somi Usgaonkar Posted On : August 28th, 2021
B.Tech Electronics & Communication, National Institute of Technology, Goa (2022)

The preference should be firstly based on the branch and not on the colleges. Opt for the college where you get the branch of your choice. It's not college that matters but rather it's the branch. If you get the branch of your choice, you will be more likely to study that well and attain a successful future.

  • If you are more into the programming languages, the technology and are passionate about learning the subjects associated with the CSE, then opt for GEC as there's nothing above the branch.
  • If you have an interest in EEE, opt straight for the NIT Goa as it is an institute that will never disappoint in terms of placement, academics, faculties, or higher studies.
  • NIT Goa is a brand in itself. But opt for it only if you are sure about the branch.
Categories CSE at GEC Goa EEE at NIT Goa
Course Fee 2.9 lakh 5.38 lakh
Highest CTC 24 LPA 18-19 LPA
Average CTC 12 LPA 11 LPA
Recruiting Companies Accenture, Wipro, TCS, HP, etc. Infosys, Adobe, Capgemini, L&T, etc.

If you think that you will take EEE in NIT Goa and then change the branch to CSE, then it's nearly impossible. There are high cut offs for changing the branch and it happens after following a certain set of rules that is not possible. So choose wisely as your career depends on it.

How do the classrooms at BITS Hyderabad look like?

Sabeer Chalana Posted On : December 19th, 2023

As a second year student at BITS Hyderabad, I find myself eligible to answer your question.

The classrooms at our college are well furnished, spacious and air conditioned. The F102 and F105 lecture halls are huge in size. The seats are comfortable, and the lighting system is also quite good.

The campus library is, in fact, better than those at the other two BITS campuses. The reading section is spacious, beautifully furnished and in the best condition. The auditorium is huge and mesmerizing.

You will love to study at BITS Hyderabad, and won’t feel the lack of any facilities at all.

VG
Vastal Garg Posted On : November 16th, 2022
M.B.B.S. from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (Expected 2024)

Rather than a stipend, students at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Patna, Raipur, and Rishikesh are offered salaries that involve the deduction of taxes. The total salary of a Junior Student both clinical and non-clinical is around INR 90000/month. After the deduction of taxes and house rent, it amounts to INR 76000/month.

These figures keep changing with time.
