The faculty members of the EEE department at BITS Goa are not good, except for a few of them.
According to the professors, the only way to answer the questions is to attend their lectures and not understand the concepts. The average scores and grades are very low. The average of a class usually is C in a test or marks like 15 out of 75.
BITS has a higher brand value than any NIT in India. You can clear your concepts on your own. You can also learn from the knowledgeable professors of the EEE department.
If you maintain a CGPA of 8 or above, especially in the EEE department, you can easily get an internship with the help of a practice school program. These factors also help you if you opt to study further in any part of the world, or if you prefer to do a job.
However, placements at NIT Trichy are better. But, if you have the required skills, you will get good opportunities to land up in a good job position. The average CTC offered to the students is 5 LPA.
You will easily get into a good institution for higher studies or any good company for a job, even if you do not pay much attention to the lectures at BITSG. All you need to do is, have some good internship experience, be on good terms with few faculties of the EEE department, and get required recommendation letters.
IIT Madras has a great Mechanical Engineering branch. The departmental lab and workshop are well-equipped with cutting-edge instruments. IIT Madras Mechanical dept. has a well-experienced faculty pool. Many faculty members are actively pursuing research projects.
IIT Madras placements are good for Mechanical Engineering. Around 85% of students get placed from the branch. The average CTC received by the students of the branch is around INR 12 LPA.
In the GATE exam, you can expect more math-related questions, as well as questions on subjects like the theory of computation and algorithms. However, the question paper is not necessarily set entirely by the organizing institute. Different institutes submit sets of questions, and the final paper is decided by IISC.
Some subjects are especially important for chemical engineers, and this is often reflected in the GATE paper. For example, topics like CRE and ProCon may be emphasized.
The pattern of the paper is mostly determined by the professors who are setting the questions, rather than the institute itself. However, every place has a research culture, and the exam is designed to test whether students are suitable for that particular environment. At IISC, the culture is focused on core scientific research, rather than application-based research. Therefore, you can expect questions that test your basics, logic, and conceptual understanding.
The video below explains the differences between GATE paper set by IITs and IISc
It's important to note that, no matter which institute is setting the paper, all subjects are generally covered more or less equally. So, if you plan your studies accordingly, you'll be well-prepared for any type of question that may come up. For example, in one institute, a question may ask for a straightforward answer, while in another, the question may require you to apply your knowledge and choose the best option based on given properties. By focusing on understanding the concepts, you can be prepared for any type of question that may appear on the exam.
There are various ways in which a University can be termed bad. According to some of my friends who study there, Pondicherry University is not good due to the following reasons:
Uncooperative Faculty -
Unfair Evaluation-
Last-Minute Decisions -
These can be the reasons why Pondicherry University is not good. There are a lot of provisions which could be improved.
The decision should be completely based on your interests. It is always better to choose a course that has ample opportunities; otherwise, you will end up jobless. You have to maintain a good CGPA to get a placement here since the competition level is very high. BITS Pilani is comparatively better at academics and placement support than BITS, Goa, or Hyderabad.
When it comes to the selection of the course, Electronics and Instrumentation are a bit difficult for scoring a good CGPA. After this course, you are open to both CSE and EEE fields for your higher studies (based on the electives you have selected).
CSE is comparatively better, which opens up high opportunities and BITS across India provides placement support for students with good CGPA
So, choose wisely based on your interests.
The research work is not influenced by the institute you belong to rather it’s your hard work, talent, and determination that comes to count. No doubt, AIIMS has some top-notch ongoing research every time, but research work can be done from any institute. I have seen many AIIMS students work with labs at IIIT, IIT Delhi, NCBS, IISERs, and labs abroad. Every research opportunity can be availed just by the click of an email.
The primary step is to analyze where your interest lies and look up to a professor who is conducting research in the same. Contact him and convince him of your abilities and passion. As a bonus, you can take part in research electives or summer schools in your field which will add to your overall learning experience.
Some might find it difficult to do research work alongside their studies but remember your hard work will not go in vain. But it’s important to note that as a UG student, research should be solely based on your interest and not something you are doing out of boredom or as a formality.
Based on the specialization i.e., a student goes for Marketing then GIM, Goa if a student chooses Finance then TAPMI. Although the GIM Goa is a bit expensive and has smaller batch strength with respect to TAPMI.
The best way to understand your possibility for this college is to look at the NEET 2022 AIIMS Bhubaneswar cut-off.

The placement at NM College of Commerce and Economics is amazing. The college offers great industrial exposure in National Companies and other Corporate firms. However, very few companies visit the campus for the recruitment process.
The placement cell tries to bring companies for internships as well. The companies that often visit the campus for recruitment during placement drives are:
Citigroup | Honeywell |
TCS | Federal Bank |
Ernst and Young | KPMG |
Barclays Bank | Deloitte |
Accenture | JP Morgan Chase |
There are many more such big companies that have visited for the placement.
Having friends in both the institutes, I can say that overall, NIT Durgapur is a better choice among the two. But IIEST is also an excellent institute with national importance.
There are several factors that affect the placement in both the institutes, according to them here are some -
