Which is better among Chandigarh PEC and BIT Mesra?
Compared to BIT Mesra, PEC Chandigarh is better. It offers better exposure, opportunities, and academics. During PEC Chandigarh placements 2021, students received the highest CTC of INR 43 LPA.

What is the admission process for BIT Mesra?

- BHMCT (Hotel Management): Based on the entrance test and interview conducted by the university
- MBA: Percentile scored in the entrance exams CAT/XAT/CMAT/MAT followed by GD/PI conducted by the university
- M.Tech: For GATE qualified students – 80% weightage to GATE score and 20% weightage to class 12 marks. For non-GATE qualified students – An entrance test is conducted by the institute

Is there a lateral entry in BIT Mesra?
No, there is no option of lateral entry in BIT Mesra, especially for engineering. For other branches, there may be depending on their selection criteria.
BIT Mesra admits students in its B.Tech/BE (Engineering) programs through JEE-MAIN-CSAB route. There may be some special spot round of admission through CSAB, but they do not conduct any lateral entry procedure of their own. Even if there is any number of seats that lay vacant (which usually is the case), they don’t conduct a lateral entry of their own.

What rank is required to get admission to BIT Mesra?
Normally, this depends on a number of factors.

NIT Trichy would be a better choice upon BIT Mesra when it comes to architecture. But, the choice is yours.
Which would be better, CS at NIT Silchar, IT at NIT Raipur, or ECE at BIT Mesra/NIT Jalandhar?
IT from NIT Raipur is the best option among these. The institute offers good placement opportunities for IT and CSE. Each year around 100% of students get placed from the IT department. Reputed IT companies such as Samsung, MuSigma, Oracle Cloud, Cognizant, etc. visit the campus placements. According to the highlights of NIT Raipur placements, IT department has an average CTC of around INR 6.78 LPA.
Is it better to pursue a BTech in BIT Mesra or in Thapar University, Patiala?
Electrical Engineering is better to go for BIT Meresa whereas for everything else it is better to go for Thapar.
- The quality of students will be much better in Thapar.
- CSE has high cutoffs ranging from 190–210 JEE score and Mechanical and ECE also has students having around 170–175.
- Whereas, in BITS, there will be many people who enter because they have a good board percentage, not a good JEE score.
- For CSE and Mechanical, it has to be Thapar above BITS while for ECE and Electrical, BITS would be better.
- Campus life and fests of Thapar are better as I have heard BITS has bad administration.
- Thapar has increased its seats which has seen a fall in cutoffs of recent batches. The total batch strength is now around 1700.
- The university has improved the existing labs and new labs have been created recently to get accreditations like ABET etc.
