  • Engineering Mechanics
  • Mechanical Engineering Workshop
  • English

To get a subject-specific syllabus visit the official website. Knowing the syllabus beforehand will give you a headstart.

As an engineering student, after your final year, you will have a lot of options to explore once your degree is complete. It is definitely not that easy but here are a few options to look at:

Private job from College:

  • For this, you will need to get a good CGPA and a job in a core electrical company.
  • You can think of getting jobs in companies like Consulting, IT or Software companies.

GATE and GRE:

  • If you are looking for jobs in the private sector, you can aim to appear for GATE as this will help you secure a really good job in the private sector.
  • For this, you need to have good knowledge about your subjects and information regarding the public sector as many PSUs are looking to hire via GATE scores.
  • You also have the option of doing an M.Tech from an IIT.
  • Lastly, if you are thinking of going abroad, prepare for the GRE and aim for a great score.

MBA:

  • If you are not interested in pursuing your current field, try looking for a placement in a consulting or IT firm.
  • You can secure an experience of 1 to 2 years and enroll in an MBA course to boost your career.

Entrepreneurship: Another great option to try if you are looking to start a business.

These are mainly some of the top few options you have. You can think about each of them carefully and then decide if you would like to remain in your field or switch over.

How is the placement at the MNNIT in Allahabad for an MTech CS student?

AB
Akash Bose Posted On : April 24th, 2021
MNNIT

My brother has completed his M.Tech from MNNIT Allahabad and according to his experience, this institute lives up to the expectations in terms of placement. Here’s why:

  • If you have done enough justice to your studies during these 2 years of M.Tech, then the rest is assured. Although no specific CTC can be guaranteed, you will ultimately land a good job.
  • No doubt MNNIT Allahabad’s placement cell is very active and works hard for your better future. Thus, a long list of companies usually visits for campus recruitment every year offering a plethora of opportunities.
  • In my brother’s placement time, companies like Walmart, Sony, Cap Gemini, TCS, Samsung, Amazon, Directi, etc companies came for recruitment. However, you must be efficient at coding to grab decent packages in such big companies. Here also, MNNIT help you out with their bunch of bonafide students that take the "ComputerClub" classes.

Overall, if a placement is your goal, you are at the right place. Luckily if you belong to the CS branch in MNNIT or any other college in India, you can have one of the best placement packages. Most of the students of the CS branch get placed for jobs and internships too.

Which is better IIIT Allahabad or MNNIT Allahabad?

AS
Aditya Singh Posted On : April 30th, 2021
B.Tech at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad

One of my friends was in the same situation at the time of his counseling. He had this doubt and I am sure many of the people would have it too. I will note down the pros and cons of these two colleges so you can take an unambiguous decision.

IIIT Allahabad:

Pros:

  • IIIT Allahabad has a huge campus and it’s beautiful over there. In terms of campus, IIIT Allahabad is definitely better than MNNIT Allahabad.
  • IIIT Allahabad is known for its coding culture.
  • You will not be taught anything unnecessary like teaching engineering drawing to a CS student.

Cons:

  • The faculty base is not that great. Sometimes even seniors take the classes.
  • The timetable along with the assignments becomes very hectic at times.
  • It is also a new institute.

MNNIT:

Pros:

  • MNNIT is a very old college and has a rich alumni base.
  • The placements are amazing if you are persistent with your hard work and studies.
  • The faculties are good apart from a few.

Cons:

  • The campus is small as compared to IIIT Allahabad also; the sports facilities are also just not that good.
  • If you are looking for a good coding culture then it's here too but far less than IIIT Allahabad.
  • You will need to study some subjects no matter which branch you belong to in the first year.

The table below gives a brief overview of the two institutes.

Parameters

IIIT Allahabad

MNNIT Allahabad

Median Salary

12.93 LPA

8 LPA

Top Recruiters

Wal-Mart labs, Amazon, Direct-I, Qualcomm, etc.

Alstom, Bajaj Auto, Hero Motocorp, Tata Power etc.

NIRF Rank

103

93

So this pretty much sums up these colleges. The final decision is yours, compare and choose wisely.

What are the features of CSE at MNNIT Allahabad? Why is it the best?

MBA International Business, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi (2020)

First of all, let us consider the placement. Comparison of data of placement 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 for the branch CSE at MNNIT Allahabad.

Year

Eligible Candidates

Placed

Job Offers

Average CTC (Lakhs)

2020

2019

2017

94.48

13.44

Looking carefully at the above data, we observe that the number of job offers made is higher than the number of eligible candidates. The average CTC also follows a positive trend. Thus, based on placement, it is advisable to join CSE at MNNIT Allahabad.

Check the following positive aspects of MNNIT Allahabad:

  • Competitive Environment: The students are selected based on their rank in JEE Mains, which is difficult to clear and the large number of students appearing every year adds to the difficulty level. This ensures a good competitive environment and nothing can be more advantageous towards contributing to better career growth than a healthier competitive environment in the college.
  • Faculty: The faculty at MNNIT Allahabad is very motivating and is always ready to help you in clearing doubts.
  • Role of Seniors: Beyond the courseware, seniors help their juniors in various aspects such as interview preparation and expand their knowledge beyond the course material. For these purposes, there is a computer club on the campus.
  • Tech Fest: Avishkar, is the name of the competitive programming event held on the campus. Competitive programming events are held which are well-organized and contribute to the learning of the students.

I have a few friends pursuing CSE at MNNIT Allahabad and they vouch for the course.

What’s the CPI required to change from biotechnology to other branches in MNNIT Allahabad?

PR
Priya Raghav Posted On : April 30th, 2021
MNNIT Allahabad

It seems like you are a fresher to the college and desperately wants to change your branch Biotechnology, which is the most underrated branch of the college, compared to some other branch.

To be precise, a CPI of 8 is considered safe. Try to keep it above 8. But, if luck is on your side, even a CPI of 7.6-7.7 will help you out.

I would like to mention a few points that you should consider before switching your branch and perhaps, these are the reasons that make Biotechnology at MNNIT Allahabad amazing.

  • Faculty: The faculty members are very good. They are comparatively young and therefore understand more of students’ problem. They are friendly and approachable, which is unique to the Biotechnology department.
  • Class Strength: There are around 35 to 40 students in the class. Because of the lesser number of students in the class, all share a good bond within themselves as well as with teachers. This is significant at good and bad times.
  • Research: The department is very active in the case of research. The department has received funding from various government agencies such as DBT, DST, UGC, MNRE, etc., and has published research papers in national and international journals of repute. Externally funded research grants of approximately above 1.5 crores were also generated by the department within a short span of time.
  • The infrastructure is good and growing rapidly.
  • Ample placement opportunities. Students are either placed in good companies or they opt for higher studies.
  • Students from the department also succeed in exams such as GATE, GRE, CSIR-UGC (NET).

The faculty also frequently visits other research laboratories and research institutions in the country and abroad. Additionally, national as well as international conferences were held which were government agencies supported.

Is studying CSE in MNNIT, Allahabad through the DASA scheme worth it?

NY
Nisha Yadav Posted On : April 30th, 2021
MNNIT (2016)

When computer science was first introduced in India as a course to pursue, it was launched in only two colleges namely, IIT (Kharagpur or Kanpur) and MNNIT Allahabad.

It was a five years course in the former while in the latter it was a four-year course.  Therefore it can be said that the first batch to launch in the market was from MNNIT Allahabad.

CSE in MNNIT Allahabad is the best branch among all the branches. The reason is stated below:

  • Good placement: In the placement drive 2020, 96.42% of students out of 168 eligible students got placed from the department which stood just after the IT department. The average package is the highest from the CSE department which is 18.02 lakhs per annum. The highest CTC offered was 39.002 lakhs which is the same as the ECE department and is the highest among all other departments.
  • The coding culture here is very good.
  • The faculty is quite good and friendly. Also, you will get a competitive peer group.
  • Ragging is not tolerated in the institution.

Hope it helps to get an idea about the CSE branch of the institute.
