Placements at IIM Calcutta are modified versions of the Stanford Prison Experiment that involve less physical abuse but ruthless psychological torture. And it is past time that CAT aspirants and the general public were made aware of this. It is also an attempt to raise awareness among the Institute's Board of Governors, faculty, and other stakeholders. It also reflects utter dissatisfaction with IIM-C Alumni who graduated in recent years and failed to take any action or stand up for what is right, despite knowing what goes on here.
Yes, the Placement Committee members were recently subjected to a Non-Confidence Motion because a majority of final-year MBAs finally took a stand against the oppressive regime. If you fail to attend company PPTs or a Wing mate fails to attend due to illness, your entire wing will be barred from at least three companies. Unless you're a friend or a beloved, of course. Nobody holds PlaceCom accountable.
Although all the B Schools you mentioned are very good, the one I would personally recommend is FORE. Some points that favor my recommendation are
College |
Average Package |
Highest package |
GIM |
INR 12.1 LPA |
INR 30.2 LPA |
FORE |
INR 14.04 LPA |
INR 41 LPA |
KJ Somaiya |
INR 10.98 LPA |
INR 26.50 LPA |
SIBM Bangalore |
INR 10.60 LPA |
INR 32 LPA |
GIM: ?18,31,200
FORE: Rs.16,98,000
KJ Somaiya: ?9.59 Lakhs (one year)
SIBM: INR 3.53 L - 16.62 L(for 2-3 years)
FORE offers industry oriented certifications and International Immersion Program. So looking at the overall picture we can say all 4 colleges give each other tough competition but FORE takes the lead.
To begin with, when comparing two IIMs, the question is which is better, not which is the best.
The answer to this question is, of course, subjective.
IIM Calcutta is a more established institution than IIM Lucknow, and it consistently receives higher rankings. As a result, according to any layman or literate man, it will be better than IIM Lucknow.
IIM C is superior in terms of finance specialization and placements. IIM L is superior in terms of marketing specialization and placements.
IIM C is calm, whereas IIM L is frenetic.
IIM C fees are significantly higher than IIM L fees.
IIM C has a high percentage of engineers who go there, whereas IIM L has a wide range of academic disciplines.
IIM C Has more alums than IIM L. This is also a significant feature of how old the college is.
It is widely held that the Mumbai work structure is extremely beneficial and makes you more confident and open.
GSMC has a bond, so you must work for a year after graduation, whereas AIIMS does not have a bond. As one of the most prominent leading institutes in Maharashtra, GSMC has excellent technical infrastructure. It has a higher patient flow, which is very important. It also has more advanced clinical departments. The faculty is an incredible and enthusiastic supporter. It is affiliated with other BMC colleges, giving you more opportunities, and it is also affiliated with prestigious institutions such as Tata Memorial and Wadia Hospital.
AIIMS Raipur is a good choice because of the AIIMS brand, infrastructure, and smaller batch size, but GSMC is still suggested.
All of these AIIMS are on equal levels with one another. Infrastructure, faculty, and facilities are remarkably similar, so don't undercut any of them. So, excluding these, make your decision based on personal factors.
Remember that it is a common misconception that Raipur is unsafe and least developed. AIIMS Raipur is a wonderful institute that none of you regret attending. They have also achieved some outstanding results in PG. So give it some thought and join any of the institutes you want.
If you are willing to pursue B.Tech and we’re not able to make it into IITs or NITs, then I suggest taking a drop year and applying for better engineering colleges than making a hasty decision and choosing IMS. The reason why I advise you on giving up IMS is that its Engineering department is not up to the mark. The quality of education is very poor and in the end, you will just end up with a Degree Certificate and no knowledge or innovative grooming. If you decide on a certain branch then it’s important to know that no matter which specialization you go for, you will be placed under TCs or any other local software company. You won’t be able to climb higher than this. So if your goals and standards are high I suggest you think twice before choosing IMS.
MSU Baroda is really good in terms of both education and placement as compared to other Gujarati colleges.
Education
The workload here is minimal and the no minimum attendance rule makes it easier for students to prepare for other competing exams or work part-time.
Computer Science students are taught
The pedagogy for Java and DBMS is really good. Anyone who attends the lectures finds it easier to grab the concepts.
Placements
Mostly companies like TCS, INFOSYS, TECH-M, COGNI, and L&T INFO-TECH, visit M.S University during the beginning of the final semester. These Indian Companies offer around 2.9 LPA to 3.5 LPA including variable components.
Apart from this, AMDOCS visits MSU. They offer 4.2 LPA and it is one of the best companies to begin your career with.
Google once visited MSY for placement in 2008.
Some lesser-known companies like Matrix, Investis, etc. also visit the campus for recruitment. They generally offer around 2.5 LPA to 3.0 LPA. Some companies that visited the campus this year are
The demand in the IT field surged so much after 2021 that product based companies too now recruit from tier 3 colleges.
The only drawback you will face here regarding placements is that the faculty does not help you in placements like other colleges. The entire process is handled by the placement coordinator and students itself.
It is recommended that you choose a national institute such as AIIMS. When deciding between Bhopal and Raipur, it is recommended that Raipur be chosen over Bhopal.
If you live in Odisha, Raipur appears to be a good option (though many would argue that Bhopal is better connected), followed by BBSR.Bhopal was previously thought to be the top AIIMS after Delhi, but with time, it has been discovered that there isn't much difference between the newer AIIMS; in fact, news of chronic faculty shortages has surfaced at Bhopal. Raipur, on the other hand, has shown consistent progress in almost all arenas—academic and otherwise. The only reason Raipur isn't a top choice is that people perceive Chhattisgarh as a Naxal state that is backward in comparison to others, which is absurd.
If you are offered a seat at AIIMS BBSR, you should take it. If not, you should definitely consider AIIMS Raipur. It will be difficult to choose between Annamalai University and Chandigarh University, just as it is difficult to choose where to study when there are so many options. I recommend that you look into Chandigarh University's distance learning program. Chandigarh University's distance education department is relatively new, but it is very promising.
The Institute of Distance & Online Learning at Chandigarh University is UGC-DEB accredited, making it an approved distance learning program. Moving on, the facilities and support in distance programs are very helpful and student-friendly. First and foremost, you will receive all study materials and have free access to their online content, which includes videos, e-courses, SLM, and quizzes. Aside from multimedia and course materials, the CU LMS (Learning Management System for distance learners) includes features such as rubrics, teacher and instructor-facilitated learning, a discussion board, a course tracker, download and submit assignments, interact with faculty, and a virtual programming environment and e-library.
Furthermore, despite being a distance learner, you will be able to visit the campus, participate in numerous workshops and seminars, and gain first-hand experience with industry tools. With a curriculum that meets international and industry standards, you will also have access to the university's placement drive, which means you can even be placed via distance education.
