To rank an institution, these factors are taken into account-
NIT Patna is ranked 56th among the top 100 Indian Engineering colleges and 128th overall, as per the NIRF 2023 rankings. These rankings are published by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
NIT Patna has a good placement record which is getting better day by day. It only lags behind because of poor infrastructure and a small campus. However, it has been allocated 125 acres in Bihta. Once it shifts to a new campus, it will overcome this weakness as well.
IITs are considered as the best engineering colleges in India, but some college outranks the others depending on many factors like placement statistics, infrastructure, faculties, courses offered, etc. Judging by these parameters IIT Bhubaneswar should be ranked around 12 among the other IITs. The list is as follows:
Most of the IITs in the list are old and have better placement scenarios compared to IIT Bhubaneswar. But if only new IITs are being compared, IIT Bhubaneswar placements are much better. For the first batch of CSE, the average package offered at this IIT was 14 LPA. Other branches like Electrical and Mechanical had received placement packages of 8.5 LPA and 8.8 LPA respectively.
Faculties of this IIT are experienced and many of them are carrying out their own research in their field of specialization. IIT Bhubaneswar also has many Student societies that focus on collaborative learning and project works. Many of them have already participated and won in various Hackathons and Code Chef.
As far as the NIRF 2023 rankings are concerned, BIT Mesra ranks 53rd among the top 100 Indian Engineering colleges/universities. As per the India Today 2023 rankings, BIT Mesra is the 5th best among the top 10 Private Engineering colleges in India with the best placement record. It is number 1 among the top 5 Private Engineering Colleges in the Eastern Region of India according to India Today 2023 rankings.
It is considered below Engineering institutions like the older 7 IITs, BITS Pilani, IIT(ISM), Dhanbad, IIT BHU, NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal, and DTU. However, it stands on par with institutions like JU, NSIT, and NIT Surathkal.
Rankings are based on specific parameters. This is the reason why the rankings published by one organization may or may not match those published by another. There is always some area in which one institution lags or performs better than the others.
BIT Mesra is a renowned Engineering institution and its curriculum is very close to the IIT course curriculum. Thus, it is a good choice for your B.Tech.
Judging a college’s worth sometimes becomes a challenging task. Sometimes people judge colleges on the basis of misleading parameters like ranking, Annual CTC, by brand name in placement. All these factors are highly misleading specific rankings. IIPM once claimed to be beyond IIMs and not have its campuses closed on orders from the court. Similarly, a college in Kolkata claims to be better than IIM Kolkata. In an attempt to advertise their college, they adopt ridiculous measures like deeming their college better than top B Schools. One cannot really judge college worth based on rankings. Rather, you should analyze what kind of jobs you are looking for and which company will be satisfying your career interests. Discard the sheepmentality and analyze your own self rather than judging colleges.
The colleges you mentioned are average decent only. So I will recommend you to try again and target better colleges like Simsree, Pumba, XIME, Bimtech Noida (RM), Great lakes Chennai, IFMR, SIBM Pune, etc. all these colleges will definitely take your career game to another level. If you are unable to get into these top colleges, go for mediocre ones like MDI Murshidabad, Xime Kochi,IPE Hyderabad. Select the best college that is suitable for the specialization you have opted for.
Yes, you can easily get into CMC Ludhiana with AIR 257. In fact, with such a good rank, you can get into any top 10 medical colleges in India. I fail to understand why you are considering CMC Ludhiana as your only option unless you are a local of Punjab and dont want to move away from home.
CMC Ludhiana is one of the best medical colleges in the country but unfortunately, it has only 13 seats for non-Christians and also charges fees higher than government colleges.
However, there isn't any guarantee of admission even with this rank because the counseling is conducted by a state health university and Punjab gives preference to its own resident students. You will be considered only If seats are left vacant in the third or extended second counseling.
There is no such ranking procedure for the DU colleges. Also if you are going to take admission in a particular college do not go by the rank as all of them provide more or less the same campus experience.
If you want to choose a college, analyze factors like academics, faculty, exposure, placements, location, infrastructure, facilities provided and other opportunities.
NIT Jalandhar is a deemed university founded as a joint venture between Govt of Punjab and India. The institute offers more than 50 courses in 12 academic departments. There are many companies that visit the campus, and thus the placement is good.
The national rankings of NIT Jalandhar for 2022 are as follows
NIRF Engineering Rankings: 54
NIRF Overall Rankings: 85
ARIA Public Institution (Central Universities, INIs, CFTIs) Rankings: 11-25
The Week Top Engineering Colleges India: 30
Outlook India's Top Govt. Engineering Colleges: 15
India Today Top Govt. Engineering Colleges: 21
So, NIT Jalandhar is clearly not among the top 10 NITs.
Based on placements, coding culture, and academic environment here is how I will rank the second-generation IITs
Overall, most IITs are similar, and thus distance from home should be the major criterion to be considered.
In today’s age and time, the worth and reputation of a college are determined by its popularity in the digital world. People tend to conduct an online search before choosing their college. Now there are many private institutes that provide inflated or misleading data mainly for advertisement purposes. Such institutes are considered high in ranking due to fake figures. The same is the case with IMS. To look good on the internet many private institutes pay a lot of money to magazines or websites and even go to the extent of writing fake reviews
I am not saying my claim is true for all the private institutes. There are also many who have genuine reviews and good reputations because of the quality of education, management, and infrastructure. Mainly the Government institutes provide the most honest reviews as there is no money involved.
My brother is an IMS Noida pass out and from his experience, I came to know the truth that IMS is just an ordinary college which whose last concern is maintaining the quality of education. It's more like a money-making machine. The following points further support my claim
What I mean is that rankings and reviews should be the only determining factor while choosing an institute. The best way is to contact alumni and clear your doubts.
Before I even answer your question let me contradict it. No, the IIM Lucknow brand value is not really increasing over the FMS in any aspect. If anyone really thinks so then he/she is just after the brand name. To clarify my point, I have listed out some strong points in favor of FMS that might change your mind.
So we can definitely conclude that FMS is a fairly decent choice and that it’s just a misconception that IIM Lucknow is increasing in brand value. Someone has rightly said
At an IIM you loan your MBA, but at FMS you own it!
