Were you asked in any interview regarding leaving your seat in IIM Raipur? If yes, how did you tackle the question?

JT

MBA from Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi (Graduated 2021)

It is not common for business schools or the Common Admission Test (CAT) to have a specific column to mention dropout cases. However, if a question about a previous dropout experience in IIM Raipur were to come up during an interview, it is important to be honest and transparent about the reasons for the decision.

It would be appropriate to explain that the decision to drop out was a result of not thoroughly researching and exploring one's interests before committing to the program. It would also be important to acknowledge any personal factors, such as not being physically, mentally, or otherwise prepared, that may have contributed to the decision. It is important to present the dropout experience as a valuable learning opportunity and to demonstrate the steps taken to ensure that the same mistakes are not repeated in the future.

It would be appropriate to explain that after leaving the program, the individual took the time to explore their interests and make sure that they were fully committed to pursuing an MBA before applying again.

Can I get a call from IIM Ahmedabad if I have 87.5 percent in 10th, 95 percent in 12th and I am IITian with a 9 CGPA?

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : June 15th, 2023

If you are a general (or even an OBC) candidate, with 87.5 in 10th, 95 percent in 12th, and a CGPA of 9, you at least need 99.5+ percentile.

If you are an SC category student, you can get a call from IIM Ahmedabad with 85+ percentile. For ST, it goes to the 70+ percentile.

But considering you are a general engineer male student, there is no chance of you getting a call at this profile. You need to appear for CAT next year with a better CAT score. Suppose you are targeting BLACKI institutes.

For Bangalore, you need to score 99.9+. For Lucknow, you need to score 99.6+. For Ahmedabad, you need to score 99.8+. For Calcutta, you need to score 99.7+. For Kozhikode, you need to score 99.5+. For Indore, you need to score 99.3+ in the CAT exam to get an admission call.

A
Admin Posted On : May 15th, 2024

If you are scoring around 19000 in UPSEE, you can get admission into BTech at KIET. Let me list the JEE-Mains cutoff for last year, so you’ll have a clearer picture.

BTech Courses JEE Main 2023 Cut off by Rank
BTech Computer Science Engineering 89664
BTech Intelligence and Machine Learning 120586
BTech Information Technology 128590
BTech Artificial Intelligence 133453
BTech Computer Science 133511
BTech Computer Science and Information Technology 146840
BTech Electronics and Communication Engineering 226239
BTech Electronics and Electrical Engineering 324201
BTech Mechanical Engineering 471505

As you can see, the overall cut-off rank is around 89664 to 471505. So with your score, you can easily get into the CSE branch at KIET.

Are other competitive exams like KEAM required for NIT Calicut admission?

BD
Badashruti Dasgupta Posted On : August 23rd, 2021
B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Calicut (2020)

One of my friends went to NIT Calicut and he was able to provide some information regarding admission at the institute.

  • If you have completed your standard 12th or equivalent examination in India then for securing a seat at NIT Calicut, you need to appear for the JEE Mains entrance examination.
  • The marks and cutoff greatly vary every year. It also depends on your Home state and Other state categories. If you are from Kerala then you will have a 50% reservation. Thus you will have good chances of getting admissions compared to Other state students.
  • In case you are an NRI and completed standard 12th equivalent abroad, you need to clear the SAT with a good score to get a seat at NIT Calicut. In addition to these, there are few seats reserved for the students of SAARC countries.
  • If you are from OBC/SC/ST category, you will have a lesser cut-off.

So, you should focus on your preparation to get a good score in JEE Mains in order to get admission at NIT Calicut.

Can I get admission to DAV College Chandigarh with 84% in a B.Com?

BCA from DAV College, Chandigarh (2020)

It depends whether you have done your 10+2 from Chandigarh or outside of UT. If you have done your 10+2 from UT, then you can get admission quite easily with 84%. But if you completed your 10+2 from outside then it will be a little tough to get selected. Since the cutoff is a little high.

What happens in IIM Calcutta if your percentage is less than the percentage mentioned in your CAT form?

US
Upma Sinha Posted On : December 20th, 2022
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta

Any IIM will do the following if your score is lower or higher than what you indicated on the CAT form: It will be changed if the score is higher, but you must first fill out a form, and the higher percentage will be considered for further selection consideration.

If it is less than what you specified on the CAT form, they will inquire as to why. After hearing your reason, they will change back to the actual percentage by filling out the form with your signature. If it happened by mistake, there will be no problem.

Is there anyone who got selected for IIM Calcutta with a low score in Class XIIth, like 70?

SZ
Saher Zehra Posted On : December 20th, 2022
Works at Avendus Capital

As can be seen, class XII marks receive only 15% of the weightage (whereas the CAT percentile receives a significant (67%) weightage). Furthermore, a 70% in class XII will result in 6/10 points in that section. As a result, a person scoring 80% or higher has an advantage of only 4 points out of 10 in a section with a weightage of only 15%.

As a result, a low class XII score of 70% is not a particularly important factor in shortlisting, and it is easily compensated for by a high CAT percentile.

How is the Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal, and what is the admission procedure?

ND
Narman Das Posted On : July 22nd, 2021
PGDFM Environmentalism, Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal (2018)

If you are interested in studying wildlife, flora, and fauna of a region, rural development, environmental conservation, climate change, economic empowerment, forest sustenance, etc then IIFM Bhopal is the best one to go to in India.

It's a niche market if you see it one way. But if you're really passionate about the aforementioned fields then, you can make a thriving career out of it.

  • The admission procedure is similar to other B-schools. A valid score in CAT/XAT is required. The institute will shortlist based on the score.
  • You will have to keep checking the official website for the shortlisting announcement. The final steps will include WAT and personal interview; if you perform well, You'd easily get in.
  • You will only be called on the basis of the percentile scored in the exams. Then the WAT will test your writing skills and the interview will finalize your position. The final test score will be an admixture of the three.

A regular MBA from any other college will be better than IIFM's but for forest management, it's definitely the best India can offer.
