Is taking admission in a college like TAPMI, GIM and Great Lakes Chennai a good decision or should I drop a year to try for the IIMs?

If you can afford taking a year drop, then definitely go for it and aim for IIMs or other top B-schools such as IIFT, S.P. Jain, FMS. If you do not achieve a higher score than you did this year, you will have to explain what you did with an extra year to not only IIMs, but to every interview you go. However, I would recommend going through the interviews, seeing what you have converted this year, and then make an informed decision.GIM is also a good institute and so is tapmi, but they don't fall in the same category as IIMs though.

Which one should be opted, Tapmi PGDM or XIMB HR, in terms of placement?

It seems you are unsure about the branch you are interested in. Both PGDM and HR are diverse branches and one needs to first determine the field they are interested in only then they can make a sound decision.

If you are interested in HR, then choose XIMB HR without any second thoughts. It's the best HR program in the country. However, it's important to note that in this field your academics and profile building matter more than anything. Xavier School of HRM will provide ample opportunities for you.

An MBA in HR requires you to scale up for which you need a better skill set and a better learning experience that you can get at XIMB and not Tapni. However, if you are unsure of your interests, go for a PGDM in Tapmi.

Here is a brief overview of these branches

The interview process for the new L.E.A.D program at TAPMI is going to be an interesting one. The interview is conducted by a panel consisting of TAPMI faculty members and Mu Sigma officials.

Candidates will be tested on the following criteria:

How do I convert a call from tapmi?

RS
Rishabh Sharma Posted On : June 1st, 2021
PGDM from T. A. Pai Management Institute (2018)

To get into TAPMI, clear the GD session, and perform well in PI. Your marks and CAT score should also be good. Last year my brother applied here. Let me share his experience, which might give you a clear idea.

  • GD topics are mainly taken from current affairs. They might also provide debatable topics, to evaluate the discussion. My brother was given the topic “Should Burqas be Banned During Exams?”. Out of 12 people in the group, 4 were selected for the PI round.
  • In PI, various types of questions were asked. This included from - “Describing Yourself” to “Where do you see yourself in 5 years”. Mention your family background briefly, but mostly concentrate on yourself, your accomplishments, your skills, and your strengths.
  • They also asked about - Why he chose MBA and why in TAPMI. Also why he did not opt for a job but for an MBA. Confidently and answer with honesty, this will definitely create a good impression.
  • After that, you also might be asked about current affairs and your extra-curricular activities. How they benefited you and what role does it play in your career, are some of the things you should be prepared to answer.

Overall, even if you don't have an answer, be confident and speak clearly. If you don't want to bluff your way through an answer, tell them confidently that you don't know.

Which is better: TAPMI or SIBM, Pune?

SK
Sabitha Krutarth Posted On : May 16th, 2023

Between the two, we would enthusiastically recommend SIBM Pune.

SIBM Pune is one of the premier B-schools in India. Since its founding in 1978, it has grown exponentially, producing business leaders who have obtained executive positions.

  • Placements: The average placement for 2022 class was INR 26.77 lacs, and the highest package was INR 35.05 lacs (with 111 students receiving PPOs).
  • Average Summer Internship placement for 2022 was INR 2.91 Lacs (for two months), with the highest remuneration amounting to INR 4.40 Lacs.
  • Infrastructure: SIBM Pune is located on the picturesque hilltop of Lavale and has all the facilities for sports (dedicated cricket, football, basketball ground, and sports complex for Badminton, Tennis, and Table Tennis), fitness (fully equipped gym and a swimming pool! ), a 24-hour library, and the highest number of Bloomberg terminals in the nation.
  • Corporate Competitions: SIBM Pune is one of the most sought-after B-schools for corporate competitions that lead to PPIs and PPOs. Students have won the Godrej LOUD, Asian Paints CANVAS, Reckitt Benckiser Global Challenge, Abbott Business Challenge 2.0, Novartis Biocamp Case Study Competition, and ABG HeadstaRt competitions, in addition to reaching the finals in a number of others.
  • Students at SIBM Pune come from various backgrounds, assuring racial and cultural diversity. They have students from over 20 states, and from over multiple countries around the world. The philosophy of "Vasudeva Kutumbhakam" ensures that the university remains a family.
  • Student-Driven Culture: While many B-schools in India can make this claim, SIBM Pune's student-driven culture is genuinely exceptional. Under the direction of our Director, students manage not only the festivals and sports tournaments but also placements, admissions, and corporate and alumni relations. This may appear elementary to an outsider, but it is an integral aspect of the B-school learning process.

SIBM Pune rates in the top five private B-schools in all rankings and is one of the most desirable B-schools overall.
