How is the placement scenario in the IIITM Gwalior computer networking branch for an M.Tech (not IPG)?

GS
Gagan Singh Posted On : March 15th, 2021
Studied Digital Communication at Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior (2018)

IITM is a premier institute that focuses on providing major technology programs. It is up to the mark of dynamic academic affairs. The focus has been on digital communication, computer networks, very-large-scale integration, and information security.

The placement scenario is quite good. There are no traces of partiality between IPG and Mtech.

The highlights are as follows:

  • The main recruiters are Samsung, Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, Yamaha Motors, TCS.
  • The admissions are done through GATE scores.
  • The batch size is close to 32.

The prominent belief among students is that the IPG students are preferred over M.Tech students. This is not definitely the case. It all brings down to the fact that it depends on the rank and score that you can crack well. IPG students are definitely more prepared compared to M.tech ones.

IIITM Gwalior (2018)

I have a few friends who graduated from IIITM Gwalior. According to them, the college is quite good.

  • The college has got a good campus and faculty members.
  • It provides the best facilities for the students.
  • The Gwalior campus is the main campus of IITM in India.
  • The batch for BBA is good but you won’t have placement offers from the institute. You will get placement assistance from the college, but you will need to search for job offers on your own.
  • The college also provides skill training like in photography and tour guiding which will help you afterward.

You will get the best campus experience and learning experience from this college.

Which is better, IIITDM Jabalpur or IIITM Gwalior, for girls?

MM
Malini Mukherjee Posted On : March 22nd, 2021
Studied at IIITM Gwalior (2021)

Here is the information about IIITM Gwalior by a student who is currently pursuing his degree.

  • IIITM is a very nice place when talking specifically about girls. It is a safe place for girls to study.
  • The campus offers one large girls hostel for the accommodation of girls. All the girl students are made to reside in that hostel itself. The girls are allotted single rooms.
  • There are few time restrictions for girls. They are not allowed to leave the campus after 8 pm at night and they have to reach back to their hostel by 10 pm at max. girls are neither allowed to roam across the campus past 10 pm.
  • In this institution, there is no such boy-girl thing. Here, everyone will get habituated as per the culture and environment of IIITM Gwalior and they will be enjoying being a part of this institution. It is lovely being there.
  • Moreover, when talking about other important parameters such as placements and infrastructure, IIITM Gwalior stands first over IIITD Jabalpur. Actually, IIITM Gwalior stands above IIITD Jabalpur in all aspects.

Thus, we can say that be it a boy or girl, the suggestion would be to go for IIITM Gwalior as it would be a much better choice than IIITDM Jabalpur.

How is the coding culture in IIITM Gwalior these days, and how many events are organised for it?

SK
Swapnil Kumar Posted On : April 8th, 2021
IPG (BTech + MTech) Information Technology, Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalio…

My brother studies at IIIT M and the coding culture there is not limited to coding, i.e. the competitive coding, there are only a few of these competitive coders but they are quite dedicated and get placed with companies like Google and Microsoft. A lot of exploration can be done in different fields as well. My brother has enrolled in the Integrated Post Graduate (IPG) Course in IT, which is the only branch at IIITM G with 129 seats - a number lower than seats available at other institutes. It is ranked on #100 in the NIRF ranking list.

Also to be noted are these -

  • As you know, due to limited seats, there is a lot of scope for peer-to-peer learning.
  • You will discover that your classmates won't stick to just coding, but will also learn more about development too; which would be software development, web development, and Android development.
  • A lot of varied events are organized weekly, bi-monthly, or annually by the students' forum called AASF. They hold programming contests and conduct classes for Freshers to introduce competitive programming. These sessions are peer-to-peer interactive ones where seniors and juniors participate in sharing ideas.

AASF is the only club that holds coding competitions, mostly for first-year students, but some programmers turn out to be very good.

The annual programming contest is what coding enthusiasts at the college look forward to. Finally, it depends on whether you are interested in coding and want to truly participate with dedication, if so, your seniors will support you the most.

Which is better, CSE in NIT Jalandhar or CSE in IIITM Gwalior?

NG
Namrita Ghosedas Posted On : July 7th, 2021
B.Tech CSE, IIITM Gwalior (2019)

I have few friends from both IIITM Gwalior and NIT Jalandhar. Based on the review I got from them I will say CSE at IIITM G is better. The campus of the college is astonishing along with the many hostel facilities provided to the students. It is better than almost all the NITs in terms of education provided, quality of faculty, opportunities provided, and placements.

During the summer internships and placements in IIITM Gwalior, many opportunities are provided to all the students of B.Tech or students pursuing five years of integrated courses in CSE. Prestigious companies like Flamingo, Brightmoney, Aditya Birla Group, and many others provided a chance to all the students. According to the placement statistics of 2021 the average CTC offered was 11 LPA.

What should a first year student bring along with him at IIITM Gwalior?

SK
Sartaj Khanna Posted On : July 13th, 2021
B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior

You should only get those items that are essential and basic that you might require in the beginning. During Diwali, you will get a 10-day break after 3 to 4 months of classes beginning so you can think of getting more luggage than if required.

The campus is quite close to the main city and you can get all other basic necessities like mattresses, stationery, and other things easily. You can also shop online if you like.

But, mainly, you need to have a good smartphone and a laptop. If you don’t have a laptop at home, you should buy one before coming to college. If you don’t have that you can also buy a laptop here once you know which one you need. Buy it before Diwali though.

Lastly, you can also get some medicines that you need on a daily basis. This was all that most students bring on a regular basis.
