Which is a better option: EEE at BITS Goa/Hyd or ECE at NIT Delhi?

SG
Sampriti Guha Posted On : August 26th, 2021
Studied at BITS Goa (2020)

There are 2 factors involved here. First is the branch and the second is the institute. Speaking course wise ECE and EEE are somewhat similar and offer good career opportunities. You can choose either according to your interest.

NIT Delhi is 2 years younger than BITS Hyderabad campus and 6 years younger than BITS Goa campus. The older the institute offers better opportunities and better known.

So BITS has an edge over NIT Delhi in providing the best opportunities when the institute factor is taken. BITS also has much more recruiters than NIT Delhi. According to the recent placement highlights the average CTC offered at BITS Goa and BITS Hyderabad is around 5 LPA.

Who is the best professor in CSE department, MNNIT Allahabad and why?

AM
Anuva Maity Posted On : April 23rd, 2021
Studied at MNNIT Allahabad

MNIT has had quite a few good teachers over the years but some of them have really resonated with the students to leave an everlasting impact on our minds. Some of the most reputed teachers of the institute according to student reviews are as follows.

  • Ranvijay Singh: Professor Singh has a really thorough knowledge of his subjects and one of the few teachers who deeply care for their students. You can also approach him for extra classes in case of any difficulties even if it is not his subject. He is also great at career advice and a teacher who just wants to genuinely help and is truly one of the best teachers of CSED.
  • Neeraj Tyagi: Professor Tyagi was quite instrumental in developing my friend’s interest in networking. In my friend’s batch, he did not teach this subject but did so for IT. He was also fortunate enough to get to work with Tyagi sir and completed quite a few projects under his guidance. One of these included FTP quota on server accounts. He is open to learning new ideas and keeping himself updated, discussing things, quite accessible, and a humble teacher.
  • BD Chaudhary: It is quite possible that professor Chaudhary has retired now but he used to teach databases. His classes were miles apart from other teachers. He was a professional at teaching, much like an IIT professor, and would make you understand even the minute details of the subject. You would never feel like missing his lecture. His test papers were also quite different where he set a single 100 mark question for the half-yearly exam. He would instill the hunger for learning in students.

These were some of the teachers that made college memorable for a few of my friends. You can hope to see a few of them taking your classes too.

Is it worth leaving VIT IT for IIIT Guwahati ECE?

SM
Shalini Mitra Posted On : May 6th, 2021
Electronics and Communication Engineering, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Guwahati

If you think that you can work under technical giants later in years of study, then you should go for VIT. However, if you want to pursue your field of interest, and choose a likewise job scenario, then undoubtedly, you should enroll in IIIT Guwahati.

There are various differences between both the institutes for B.Tech ECE. Let’s walk through most of them:

Approaches of VIT:

  • VIT has a gigantic campus and is considered top-notch by students. You will most definitely enjoy your four years course period in VIT.
  • VIT, other than that, has balanced boys: girls ratio.
  • VIT is known to secure you a corporate job sooner than IIITG. This is seen at least in the current scheme.

The following table shows the placement statistics of both institutions:

Particulars

IT at VIT

ECE at IIITG

Highest Salary

44 LPA

12 LPA

Average Salary

6.39 LPA

8.1 LPA

Total Job offers

3517

11

Approaches of IIITG:

  • IIIT Guwahati is comparatively a very new college.
  • The placement record is not 100%. If you however have the necessary abilities, it is only then that you will get placed. There are unfortunately no mass recruiters here, unlike VIT.
  • IIITG is renowned to motivate you to think and implement your theories in places not most people have thought of before. VIT clearly missed out on it.
  • You will find that the questions are seldom asked in IIITG examinations. In a nutshell, you are likely to find not any repeated questions in any course throughout the B.Tech course, unlike of course VIT.
  • IIITG tremendously focuses on the research sectors.

VIT is a reputed institute that is known to get you a job in the placement. If you’re willing to enter the job sector soon, join VIT.

Which is good for fire and safety engineering, NFSC Nagpur or CUSAT?

VK
Vivek Kumar Posted On : February 12th, 2021
Studied Fire Safety Engineering, National Fire Service College, Nagpur (2020)

Both the institutes are government institutes and provide best in class education when it comes to Fire and safety engineering. They offer good placement opportunities in government and private organizations with good packages. However, NFSC Nagpur might be the choice to go due to the following reasons.

CUSAT:

Let’s discuss CUSAT first.

  • The institute offers both fire and safety which includes more topics related to engineering courses which are very useful from a placements perspective.
  • CUSAT is both AICTE and NBA accredited so has a good curriculum.
  • One of the downsides is that in CUSAT fire drills do not take place regularly which is required by some companies during the placement process.
  • Even though it is a very famous college in South India and has a good placement record, the infrastructure is a bit old compared to NFSC Nagpur.
  • The competition here for the Fire and Safety course is more and you need to have a good rank in the CUSATCAT.

NFSC Nagpur:

  • NFSC Nagpur has a course curriculum that is in line with the world’s top institutes with more focus given to physical standards and course syllabus.
  • The institute focuses more on the fire drill process and physical fitness along with the academic part.
  • It is a central government institute and provides the best placements for its students. The institute's alumni hold top positions in top fire organizations in India. The value of fire engineering here matches the IIT tag when it comes to fire engineering.
  • It is very much necessary to have proper time management to align yourself with daily routines. All the hard work you put in will be reaped as many top companies including PSU’s come for recruitment here.
  • BE in Fire course is a newly added one in this institute and competition is a bit less. The first few batches have passed with flying colors and have good placement records with the average package being around 10 LPA.

Considering all the facts above it is safe to say that NFSC Nagpur is the best option of the two. It is a central Govt. college under the Ministry of Home Affairs and has a rich alumni network in major public and private organizations.

How is life at NIT Raipur for a B.Tech student for 4 years?

SS
Soumyadeep Sengupta Posted On : April 8th, 2021
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Raipur

Every NIT and IIT has a plethora of brilliant and multi-talented students from all over India. Luckily, I have few friends from NIT Raipur who are now alumni. My friends had a mixed experience there, which is enough to give you a gist.

  • Campus: NIT Raipur doesn’t have a very vast campus to boast of. However, you won’t be lacking any basic facility there. There are basketball, volleyball, football and cricket grounds for sports lovers.
  • Mess/Canteen: The hostel mess is just satisfactorywith every Sunday afternoons being overly crowded. You will see people climbing up the tables to draw fresh hot 'Puris' and burning their hands. You will also see a few people fighting over the amount of paneer and Chicken pieces with the mess staff. My friends usually went for cheaper options like outside restaurants like Punjabi Dhaba, Bajrangi Dhaba, Little Hut, etc.
  • Hostel life: Just like every college, people living in hostels have the best college life. However, due to less number of hostels, many students live outside. If you are a girl, then you will face more harsh rules like no entry after 6 pm in the evening except in case of special permissions, etc. On Friday/ Wednesday evenings you can see most couples roaming out. Every Wednesday night the whole boys' hostel will be empty due to the cheapest movie tickets.
  • Peers: You will be interacting with so many talents from all over India, you will never be alone. Also, ragging is not practiced at all. Yes, seniors may approach for interaction which is nothing to worry about. You might need their guidance and help later.

Every year students also organize fests like Electrika, Samar, etc. There is no doubt that you will enjoy your duration at the institute.

Is it worth joining the EEE branch in the Amrita Amritapuri Campus?

SK
Sakshi Kapur Posted On : July 6th, 2021
Studied M. Tech in Control & Instrumentation Engineering at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri

I have a friend who is an alumnus from the 2007-11 batch of the EEE branch and based on her input, I would highly recommend you to join this campus! In case you miss out on getting into NIT/IIT, trust me, you should go for Amrita as your third-best choice.

My friend had completed her B.Tech from Amrita and went to a top-notch government college for her M.Tech. It would provide you exposure like no other renowned college in the whole of Kerala. My friend and her batchmates were experts in the microcontroller program. Their expertise led them to participate in programming for FPGA.

  • The department and its faculties are highly qualified as expected. Most of the faculty members are doing their PhDs. Plus, some faculties are doing their PhDs from IITs as well.
  • Reputed conferences and journals consist of work by the institute's faculty members and students. Good funding is carried out to food projects wherein my friend's batch was one amongst them too.
  • The curriculum pattern is super flexible. A lot of spare time can be put into important projects and fast-track courses can be completed too.
  • My friend got herself the extremely prestigious student exchange program- Erasmus Mundus. She is currently doing their research for reputed companies in the country and abroad.
  • Since most of my friends and her batch-mates were offered jobs by that time, traveling to Coimbatore for that placement was not a big deal. This job opportunity came from companies like Renault, Schneider, Ericsson, etc.

Therefore, one should always consider joining Amrita for the EEE branch.

How is IT at NIT Jalandhar, placement-wise and academically?

RB
Rahul Bisht Posted On : January 4th, 2023
Works at Maruti Suzuki

NIT Jalandhar's IT department is thriving. Students have access to the best teachers and air-conditioned classrooms. All of the teachers are highly qualified, with the majority holding doctorates in their respective fields. There is no reason to doubt their intelligence because the majority of these teachers are graduates of prestigious colleges such as IITs and NITs.

For the past 2-3 years, CSE placements have been the best in the region; you can expect the same from IT, as 50% of companies coming for CSE deal with this field.

After their second year, Microsoft comes to campus to recruit students for internships. Microsoft offers a package worth around 40 lacs per year, which is comparable to Amazon's package. Overall, the placement is excellent. Many reputable IT companies visit NIT Jalandhar and offer attractive packages to students. Companies such as Amazon, JPMC, Oracle, Samsung, Adobe, Ion Trading, Oyo Rooms, Mu Sigma, and many others come to recruit students at the college. Other branches can also benefit from the placement. 100% of CSE, IT, and ECE students are placed.
