IIT – Hyderabad – CSE- How-is-the-curriculum-of-CSE-at-both-the-IITS.

Among new IITs, IIT Hyderabad is developing fast. It has been ranked 8th among engineering colleges and 17 overall in India by National Institute Ranking Framework. The CSE branch in IIT Hyderabad is quite good and the opening and closing rank for this IIT suggests many students choosing it over IITs like IIT BHU, IIT Guwahati, etc. The department has 40 students per batch as a result one can have a lot of opportunities for summer training in reputed companies like Microsoft, Adobe Google, etc.

The opening and closing rank of the Computer Science department in IIT Hyderabad was 203 and 616 respectively in 2019. The institute has recorded 100% placement of the Computer Science department with an average package of 26.64 lakh per annum. The major companies which come for the Computer Science department for recruitment are Google, Microsoft, Adobe, Qualcomm, NVidia, etc. It is also known for its academic strength, research, publication, and proximity to IT and industrial hubs.

There is lack of infrastructure, books in the library, and supercomputer for parallel programming. The faculties in IIT Bhubaneswar are excellent and the students have received an attractive salary ranging from 10 – 25 lakhs per annum. The opening and closing rank of Computer Science in IIT Bhubaneswar was 1404 and 2092 respectively in 2019. There is 100% placement for computer science students in IIT Bhubaneswar and major companies which came to campus for recruitment are Adobe, Amazon, Accenture, HCL, etc. IIT Bhubaneswar ranked 22 among engineering colleges and 56 overall according to National Institute Ranking Framework.

According to these facts, IIT Hyderabad will be the better choice than IIT Bhubaneswar for Computer Science but the choice is yours, so make your decision wisely.

First of all, it is one of the most sought out branches here in BIT Sindri, so definitely if you are studying CSE and the world of coding fascinates you then go for it. Without a doubt, I can say that if you are good at coding and you are really passionate about it then the college doesn't matter much because there are many good online courses and competitions available to prove your skills.

In terms of placements, you will be placed, but not in the companies you desire. Metallurgical engineering clearly outperforms the competition. To be honest, production and chemicals are not great, but it also depends on the person, as I have seen my seniors from these branches get placements in Vedanta and Tata with good salary packages.

Currently, IIIT Una facilitates education through two temporary campuses of Dev Bhumy Group of Institutes, Himachal Pradesh and the NIT campus at Hamirpur, the main campus is still under construction and the placement is average. 

The first batch of IIIT Una passed in 2018, with an average salary of INR 3-4 LPA and highest salary of INR 10-12 LPA. In 2020, 90% students were placed and the average salary increased to 8 LPA and the highest to 16 LPA, hence it is being assumed that these statistics will improve in the upcoming years to reach the level of performance of NIT Hamirpur. 

For now, you'd like to know these -

• NIT Hamirpur has been ranked #98 by NIRF and Thapar ranks #29 on the same.
• As IIIT Una is working under the aegis of NIT Hamirpur, the institute receives the same companies for placement as does NIT Hamirpur. This year, names like Infosys, Reliance and IBM graced the campus and the highest package offered was INR 62 LPA.
• For COE, Thapar University students receive an average salary of INR 6-7 LPA.

It is difficult to assume anything in the case of IIIT Una, it has improved from the 2018 statistics, but it cannot be said how successful it'll be in four years' time. Whereas Thapar University is developing well as far as placements are concerned, in 2020 the highest package offered to Thapar University students was INR 39 LPA and 990+ companies made offers to them.

My sister studies in UIET Chandigarh, and it's an excellent institution both spatially and academically. Chandigarh is going to be one of the most flourishing IT cities in India - which enhances the scope for those students who wish to pursue a career in the field of computer science. 

You may also want to focus on these when comparing both-

• Tuition Fee- It has an affordable tuition fee if you compare it with IIIT UNA. You'll have to pay INR 82,000 as one year's tuition fee for the BE program at UIET Chandigarh; you'd have to pay INR 1.02 lakhs per semester for the B.Tech program at IIIT UNA.
• Faculty- IIIT UNA has 17 members for the CSE department, and all of them are guest faculty members. UIET also has 10-15 teachers who are very motivating.
• Study Environment- You'd feel a healthy level of competition in the CSE department because there'd be all-rounders and achievers in the class to motivate you to develop.

You can see from the table below that it has an excellent placement record as well-

Apart from this, the facilities at UIET Chandigarh are quite good if you're interested in sports, then you can join a sports club at the Punjab University and get professional guidance through a coach. Chandigarh itself is a city full of good recreational spots, you can also join different creativity clubs as well.

Amity University is pretty good for computer science. The maximum number of companies come for recruitment is for CSE and IT. Amity University provides world-class infrastructure and facilities to its students. It provides all types of laboratories for research and development. Almost 12 computer science-based clubs and society is present in college. Some of named are:

• Amity computer architecture club
• Amity web designing and coding club
• Amity software engineering club
• Amity AI club
• Amity DBMS club

These clubs organize many technical events on a regular basis for providing competitive experience to students. The college also has two student chapters named ACM and IET in the CSE department. These chapters motivate students and provide a platform for research and innovation. University also organizes small workshops for students on a regular basis. Amity is also well known for its placements. Students placed in following companies bags an average package of 3.0 Lakhs per annum:

• A+ grade companies: Amazon, Dell, Microsoft, Samsung.
• A grade company: Intel, Wipro, Tata, Sony, IBM, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra.
• Other major companies: Indus valley, PayU, NIIT, Aricent, CISCO, Ford, Accenture.

The highest package of 18 LPA was offered to the students of CSE. The package provides by these companies range between 3 to 18 LPA. In case of mass recruitment, one can easily get 3 to 4.5 LPA from these reputed companies. Students with 7 CGPA or above are eligible for campus recruitment in a maximum of the above-mentioned companies. As a result, some students get two or more offers of placement. Also, the placement department is focused to get every student in the company. So the Computer Science department at Amity University is good in every aspect.

In 2019, IIT Bhubaneswar witnessed a big jump in terms of placement. Around 89 companies visited the campus with 90% placements at the end of the session. The CSE department got the highest placement with a 100% placement rate in top companies namely Amazon, HP, Adobe, Jio, Accenture, etc. The students were offered attractive salary packages ranging from 10-35 LPA.The average package for a B.Tech in CSE at IIT Bhubaneswar is 14 LPA. The trend is good if one wants to pursue CSE from IIT Bhubaneswar, provided one has to be very good at programming and academics. The faculty of CSE in IIT Bhubaneswar is quite good, and the department offers well-equipped labs.
