RS
Rahul Sinha Posted On : July 11th, 2023
Studied at Great Lakes Institute of Management (India)

There is no specific weightage for the essay in the Great Lakes Chennai PGPM process. However, it is generally considered to be an important part of the application process as it allows the admissions committee to gain a better understanding of the candidate's qualifications and goals.

Great Lakes focuses on the overall profile of the candidates and these essays are a good mode of evaluation of the candidate's skills. Your goals and passions can be written in a lucid manner that convinces the recruiter to select you.

So, I will recommend you focus on submitting a well-written, clear, and concise essay that effectively communicates your qualifications and goals.

What is the difference between the institutes SPJIMR and SP Jain global MBA? Which one is better for EMBA?

NK
Nikhil Kaushik Posted On : March 6th, 2023
Former MBA Participant at S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) (2016–2018)

There is a major difference between the 2 B Schools, SPJIMR and SP Jain. The former is an Australian B School with 4 campuses in Dubai, Mumbai, Singapore, and Sydney whereas the latter is a Management Institute offering Management courses at its only campus in Mumbai.

Although Mumbai has a variety of decent B Schools to choose from, my brother chose SP Jain for EMBA. He had a list of criteria he looked for in his dream B School and according to him, SP Jain fulfilled it all. Some of his major requisites were

  • A disciplined course
  • A well-structured curriculum program
  • A good range of electives
  • Gives value to professional commitments
  • A certain level of flexibility along with discipline
  • Global reach of faculties
  • Excellent clubs and groups
  • A B School that listens to its students and cooperates with them

He found all these features in SP Jain and was very glad he chose it. In fact, through his Executive MBA, he claimed to have got an insight into the business world and see how businesses in other sectors survive. He believes to have developed a more holistic view post this program. Professionally too, he is doing pretty well and the program has helped him gain success.

What should I choose: MBA (EPGP) from IIM Bangalore or MBA (full-time) from Mannheim Business School, Germany? I have 8 years of experience in IT/Telecom and want to get into Product Management.

SG

M.B.A. from Indian Institute of Management Bangalore

Rather than telling you what to choose, I will list down the pros and cons of both the B Schools and leave it to you to make the final decision.

Mannheim Business School, Germany

Pros

  • Being one of the most reputed B Schools in Germany, you will get a high-paying job right after completing your course.
  • Mannheim itself is an experience as people from all over the world come here and you get to attend some amazing events too.

Cons

  • This B School charges a whopping fee of around 32000-35000 euros. And the fees do not include living expenses (9000 euros)
  • You will have to learn German especially if you want to get into product management to deal with clients. That is an additional expense.

IIM Bangalore

Pros

  • Fees are comparatively less than that of Mannheim Business School.
  • Faculty is supportive and extremely experienced.
  • Living expenses are included in the fees themselves.
  • The placements are top notch and with an above-average grade, you can easily get placed at a reputed firm with a high package.

Cons

  • Being located in the heart of the city the only disadvantage that IIM Bangalore students face is the heavy traffic.

Weighing both the pros and cons you can now make a decision easily. In my opinion, go for the German B School if you have plans for permanently settling abroad. But if you want to eventually stay in your home country then IIM Bangalore is the best option for you.

Now let’s have a glimpse of both courses individually.

PGPEX:

  • 1-year full-time program

  • It is for Industry Executives who have worked for more than five years in the industry.

  • The program helps people stuck in the middle of their careers to upgrade their management skills and climb the ladder to top management roles.

  • You require a Bachelor's degree to join the program.

PGPEX-VLM:

  • It focuses on the manufacturing industry

  • Co-run by IIM Calcutta, IIT Kanpur, and IIT Madras

It majorly depends on whether you have received the offer letter for the PGDM 2 years course or PGPM 1-year. If you have 2 year course from both of the colleges then go for TAPMI. But if you have an offer letter for PGPM 1-year course then go for Great Lakes, Chennai.

How was your IIM Lucknow interview and what is your experience with IPMX?

MK
Mridula Kumari Posted On : January 16th, 2023
MBA (IPMX) from Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (Graduated 2019)

IIM Lucknow Interview Experience is provided here.

  • Profile-related inquiries
  • Questions about current events and economics (GDP of India, Sectors of economy, etc.)
  • Questions about basic financial statements ( What is a balance sheet, how is it different from than income statement, etc.)
  • 12th-grade Mathematics.
  • General Understanding and Knowledge as well as Social Awareness (MP & MLA of your constituency, Speaker of Lok Sabha, MP of Lucknow, etc.)

IPMX Experience:

IPMX is held at IIM Lucknow's Noida campus. The Noida campus is smaller in size than the Lucknow campus. However, it has all of the necessary amenities. IPMX's pedagogy and curriculum are excellent. However, the first few months will be extremely difficult. Each class would feel like it was a barrage of new ideas. Sleep hours would suffer in the early days. Assignments and quizzes become a regular part of one's day. Students become immune to the stress of quizzes/assignments by the third term. There is something new to learn every day.

How was your interview experience at SPJIMR PGPM Program?

MR
Madhav Reddy Posted On : March 17th, 2023
Studied at SPJIMR ,Mumbai

The interview experience of one of the students at SPJIMR PGPM Program is described below:

During the interview, there were three students, including him, two of which were in Finance and one in Marketing. There were also two quantitative mathematics professors who conducted the technical round. The interview lasted for 45-60 minutes, and the professors were relaxed throughout the interview.

Some common questions included introducing oneself and discussing a model that needed dummy variables as independent variables. He also had to answer specific questions, such as writing an algorithm to help IoT differentiate between his twin brother and himself, explaining the process of capitalization of losses to a layman, and how the DuPont Model could help evaluate a company. He also had to justify why he wanted to pursue an MBA despite already being an FRM.

In the second round, there were common questions about the understanding of the numbers, views on farmer protests and the toolkit case, and the rising intolerance in countries like India and the US. The interview was more about evaluating his personality, and most of the questions were about how he would react to ethical or moral dilemmas.

Overall, listening to others' answers, having opinions in place, and being thorough with the FORM B were key to succeeding in the interview. Out of 40 students in his slot, half made it to the second round, and fortunately, all three of them made it to the next round.

Which has a greater career impact, EGMP certification from IIM Bangalore or Executive MBA (WX) from NMIMS?

BG
Bidita Ghose Posted On : May 25th, 2023
Lives in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

For EGMP certification from IIM Bangalore, you must have at least 5 years of experience, and the entire course fee is 6,76,000. The course is designed for working professionals who have not been exposed to many pivotal corporate shifts and want to broaden their managerial skills. The same would apply to an Executive MBA from NMIMS that requires a minimum of 3 years of work experience. Although there is a significant difference between the fees, it should not affect your choice if you’re planning on pursuing executive education. The brand image may not influence the chances of your success in the industry after working for more than 5 years. Still, it could definitely provide you with the right kind of assistance. So, in my opinion, you should go for IIM certification.

How is the one year executive MBA at IMI Delhi?

ST
Samiksha Tripathy Posted On : March 14th, 2023
Executive MBA in Marketing, International Management Institute (Graduated 2020)

To ensure that you make the most out of the one-year executive MBA at IMI Delhi, it is essential to have a clear understanding of your goals and objectives. The program is designed to provide you with rigorous academic learning and exposure to the corporate world through lectures from industry professionals.

Academically, the program is in sync with industry requirements, although it's still getting there. The college boasts of a highly qualified team of professors who bring their intellectual capital to the classroom, providing you with a strong foundation for your future career.

When it comes to campus life, the Ex-PG batch gets single AC rooms with a beautiful view overlooking Sanjay Van. The campus is always buzzing with activity, with events organized by the two-year PGDM students. While the program structure might not allow Ex-PG students to participate in a lot of extracurricular activities, the indoor sports room, gym, and indoor cafe make up for it.

Placements are decent, but they do vary based on your background, function, and previous work experience. It's important to note that the Executive PGDM program and the two-year PGDM program are completely different programs, with differences in pedagogy, learning outcomes, and even placements.

Overall, the program is still picking up, and the college is doing its best to build it up. If you're looking for a fast-paced, challenging program that will prepare you for a successful career in management, the Executive PGDM program at IMI Delhi could be a great option for you.
