B.Tech ECE from Shri Ramswaroop Memorial College of Engineering and Management Lucknow (2019)

If you don't get a seat through the fee waiver category, you still have to pay full tuition fees that are 1.4 Lakhs in NIET Greater Noida. After that, you can apply for government-funded scholarships.

  • Most will be for undergraduate study. If you miss out on applying for scholarships initially, don't worry.
  • Many senior students have the opportunity to apply for scholarships.
  • If you're denied a seat through the fee waiver program, you can still apply for a scholarship.
  • The amount of tuition fees you pay will depend on whether you're afforded a fee waiver.

If you don't get a scholarship, remember that you can still apply for government-funded scholarships. Most will be for undergraduate students. The cost of tuition fees at most IITs is about 1.4 lakh per annum for a non-Reserved category.

MT
Marium Tariq Posted On : January 11th, 2021
Studied at The University of British Columbia

It depends from where you are, as well as your previous background. If you are not a Canadian, you will only be eligible for some scholarships and not financial aid. Even then the competition will be too much and you’ll have to be too good with a unique background so that you become a prospective student with a lot of potential at UBC.

There are different scholarships for different programs. All have varying criteria which you need to go through carefully. Female students in hard sciences have an added benefit in many scholarships specifically aimed to help them.

Parameters Funding at University of British Columbia Funding at University of Toronto
Total Funding Budget 30 Million CAD 247 Million CAD
Average Scholarship Amount Merit-based: 25-30%
Need-based: 65-70%
7,500 CAD to 20,000 CAD
Official Website UBC scholarships UToronto’s website

UBC

  • Offers funds based on your academic and extracurriculars. You’d be automatically considered for any merit-based awards once admitted to UBC for up to 25-30% of total offered funding.
  • UBC Need-based awards comprise 65-70% of total funding and depends on the student's financial need.
  • UBC Hybrid scholarships are awarded based on a combination of merit (academics, leadership skills, etc.) and student’s financial requirements. These make up 10% of the UBC funding.

University of Toronto

  • University of Toronto’s budget for funding in 2019-2020 was 247M CAD
  • If you're a great student with active extracurricular participation, you can be considered for scholarships ranging from 7,500 CAD to 20,000 CAD
  • You can check out UToronto’s website for specifics.

Credible academic references, exceptional marks and great personal achievements and records are a must for availing most of these merit-based scholarships. These merit-based scholarships/awards don't require any application as you’d be automatically considered. Finally, make sure you work hard and apply on time to be considered for these.

Is a scholarship given in IIIT Una to the general category on the basis of family income?

DC
Debrup Roy Chowdhury Posted On : July 6th, 2021
Electronics and Instrumentation at IIIT Bangalore 2022

One of my friends is a part of the institute and can put it in a better way. You might have been confused between the scholarship provided by the institute and the state scholarship.

He however has less information about states other than Uttar Pradesh, and for learning more about it, you should visit the main webpage of the institute and have the latest information.

There is a provision of an online scholarship portal for residents of Uttar Pradesh who are at present pursuing their courses outside the state. You can register on the portal typically by filing certain crucial details, your family income certificate and other essential documents as and when asked, in the IIIT Una administration, along with the printed form.

You can also connect with the seniors currently studying there, to get a proper insight into it.

What do I need to get admission into University of Alberta and also get a scholarship?

RK
Riya Kapoor Posted On : January 11th, 2021
Studied at the University of Alberta (2018)

If you do some research, you’ll find that University of Alberta has an easy-seeming acceptance rate of 51% . But here’s the catch, this rate varies with your program choice and many other things that you should keep in mind. Acceptance rate here varies with subjects, some courses are easy to get into while some have cutthroat competition.

Like all major universities, the enrollment here heavily depends upon splendid grades, test scores and completion of required subjects. Plus, if you’re an international student then you will need to be extra special so that they have a good reason to take you in.

Deciding Factors For Admission:

  • Factors like research projects and publications play a huge role
  • Impressive SOPs and genuine LORs are very important to stand out
  • GPA: Im Fall 2018, 70% of the students entering Faculty of Science had a grade average of 85 and higher
  • English Proficiency: TOEFL iBT score of 100+ with a minimum 20 in each subsequent section is recommended
  • A GRE score of 315 and above is just next to excellent. (For PG admissions)
  • 155+ in the quantitative section of the GRE and a 4.0 in analytical ensures that you make up for any loopholes in your application

Scholarships for Internationals:

While Alberta has plenty of scholarships, they are not all available to international students. The university provides many merit-based scholarships to accomplished internationals which will make your competition tougher.

Scholarships are of different kinds and usually have different requirements. You will need an application for some of these. Mostly, these are merit and talent based and there’s cutthroat competition for these so you need to prepare really well to be eligible for these.

Around 17,130 students received 87 million CAD worth of scholarships in 2017. Interests and previous experiences are an important deciding factor in the awarding of these scholarships so make sure you prepare accordingly.

What are my chances of getting into IIM Bangalore with 84/68/87, 2 international scholarships and 1 National Scholarship?

RR
Rajnish Roy Posted On : July 27th, 2021
MBA from IIM Calcutta (2019)

One of my friends is an alumnus of IIM Bangalore and here is what he had to say.

If you are a general category student then it will be difficult to get a call back from IIM B. It is difficult to say anything specifically since you have not mentioned your category and whether you have any work experience or not.

It’s good that you have scholarships. However, it does not add anything to your profile. Scholarships don’t feature as eligibility criteria for getting a call from IIM B.

It only takes into account academic credentials, work experience, CAT score, Gender diversity, and category.
