- Placement season is the best and worst time of your college life. This is when you get to know the difference between fake and real friends.
- Learn to be satisfied with the job that you end up in. It is your grades, caliber, and level of preparation that have brought you here. A comparison with others is of no use.
- Sometimes people become rude after getting placed in a top company for a good package. Learn to ignore them and remain calm.
- Only you know your hard work, worth and potential. Don’t let others talk you down with rude words.
- Some of your close friends may not get a good placement. This is the time when you support them.
- Utilize your time after placements. Get productive, don’t be lazy.
These experiences aren’t just limited to the placement season of NSUT Delhi, they are common for all the colleges/ universities.
What should I choose, MNNIT Allahabad chemical or RGIPT chemical engineering?
If you are considering a career in Chemical Engineering and are confused between MNNIT Allahabad and RGIPT, it's important to understand the difference in the placement and research opportunities in both institutions. Here is a detailed answer to help you make an informed decision:
Placement Opportunities:
- MNNIT Allahabad is known for its good placement record, with approximately 70%+ placements in the Chemical Branch. So, if you are looking for a job after completing your course, MNNIT Allahabad could be a good option.
- On the other hand, RGIPT is a new college, and its placement record is not as established as MNNIT Allahabad. Therefore, if you are solely focused on getting placed after your degree, MNNIT Allahabad might be a better choice.
Research Opportunities:
- If you are interested in research, RGIPT is a dedicated institute for Petroleum and Chemical Engineering. Therefore, it has a focused approach toward research in this field.
- On the other hand, MNNIT Allahabad offers Chemical Engineering as one of the branches under its curriculum, but it is not a dedicated institute for Chemical Engineering. Therefore, the research opportunities might not be as extensive as those offered by RGIPT.
Both MNNIT Allahabad and RGIPT have their pros and cons. If you are looking for a good placement record and a wider range of branches to choose from, MNNIT Allahabad might be a good choice. Should I go for IIT Goa Electrical or NIT Kurukshetra CSE even though I have interest in CSE?
My uncle is a professor of Mathematics at IIT Delhi. According to him, one should prioritize the subject/ branch instead of the college while making such decisions.
You have an interest in CSE, as mentioned by you. In that case, you should go for the best college that is offering you CSE. An ‘IIT’ tag is definitely worthy and IITs have their own advantages. However, it will boil down to nothing if you have no interest in your branch.
But, I also wish to make it clear that NIT Kurukshetra does not offer CSE (Computer Science Engineering). Instead, it offers Computer Engineering (CE). The former revolves around Software, while the latter pays more attention to Hardware.
Try to find out more about CE, and then make your final decision. If you decide that CE is a better choice for you, go for NIT Kurukshetra. Otherwise, choose the other option.
You can also look for some other good colleges that offer CSE.
Which branch should I choose among IIT Delhi Chemical, IIT Delhi Biotechnology, IIT Bombay Aerospace, IIT Roorkee Electrical, IIT Roorkee Electronics?

My friend is a third-year CSE student at NIT Warangal. These are his tips to enhance your programming skills during your summer holidays-
- Coursera is a big help for freshers in any field.
- Do not learn numerous programming languages . It is futile to learn so many syntaxes and programming languages unless you know how to use them.
- Start competitive programming . Competitive programming is an excellent way to polish your programming skills. It is also a great exercise to set your logic in motion. For now, spend time on Codechef/ Topcoder/ Codeforces. For a fresher, Codechef is the best platform. Get into competitive programming before the start of your second year. This will also help you tremendously for the Data Structures & Algorithms course in your second year.
- Internships are easy to grab with the right skills and knowledge. So don’t worry about internships for now.
- You can start open-source contribution later on, if interested. But don’t do it just to be called an “open-source programmer/ contributor”.
- Use the internet as much as possible to enhance your knowledge and skills.

PSIT Kanpur is a good option for a BTech in CSE/IT. It is a reputed private engineering institute in the region with a good placement record. According to the recent highlights of PSIT Kanpur placements, 80% of students from CSE get placed each year. The highest CTC offered for the branch is around INR 21 LPA. IBM, Infosys, TCS, etc. are the major recruiters that take part in the placement drive.
Why is the cutoff rank of the IIIT Allahabad IT branch so low (4550 as of 2017) when it is comparable to CS in other NITs and some IITs?
My younger sister has enrolled in the CSE program at NIT and it has excellent facilities for the program. The brand name of NIT and IIT is still more popular for some of the engineering aspirants because they lack awareness. Even my sister thought so before admissions, but NIT ranks #16 on the NIRF Engineering scale, IIIT A ranks #103, and IITs are usually in the top 5 in the same.
Furthermore, your decision may change based on the following-
- The location of IIIT Allahabad is a factor contributing to its low popularity. It is located in a small village area called Jhalwa. There are no recreational facilities around and the only eating outlets are MacDonald's and Dominoes, which harm in the long run.
- The placement statistics of IIIT A show that it has a good 96% placement rate, but not many top companies come to visit because of the location. Networking is not an issue, but an institute in a developed area would have easy accessibility, lectures by renowned faculty, spots of refreshment; which are not present here.
- The hostels are not very good and those who reside in them, face difficulties related to social outings.
- Another fact of importance is that this institute has only two departments: Information Technology and Electronics and Communication.
