Why doesn't Apple Inc. recruit engineers from India (even from IITs, BITS Pilani, NITs and IIIT-H)?

Sayantani Barman Posted On : June 27th, 2023

Apple Inc. does recruit engineers from India, including from top institutions such as IITs, BITS, NITs, and IIITs. They have a dedicated team in India to find and recruit top talent from around the country. However, like any other company, they have certain criteria and standards that they look for in candidates, and they also have a limited number of open positions at any given time.

Therefore, even if an individual is highly qualified and comes from a prestigious institution, they may not be selected for a role at Apple.

Apple initially hired students from IIIT Hyderabad because its head office is situated in Hyderabad. After this, Apple started approaching old IITs and even top NITs such as Trichy, Surathkal, and Warangal. You will be surprised to know that now Apple even visits BITS Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad Campuses.

So you can rest assured as Apple is now recruiting actively from top technical institutes of the country.

Are there donation seats in BITS Pilani?

HV
Harish Verma Posted On : June 27th, 2023
Studied at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani - Pilani Campus

No, there are no donation seats in BITS Pilani and all the students are admitted solely on the basis of merit. In fact, my friend told me about an incident here that further proved that BITS Pilani has no donation seats. A very rich person wanted his son to get admitted here and was willing to give a hefty donation for the same. The director of BITS Pilani strongly refused saying they accept students on a merit basis only and no amount of money will get him a seat no matter what.

This brought to light the transparency of admissions here and strengthened my faith in BITS Pilani.

PP
Pablo Patranobish Posted On : May 11th, 2021
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, Amity University (2018

I have some friends at Amity and here’s what they told me about the hostel facilities at the campus.

  • Amity University Raipur has separate hostel accommodation for girls and boys.
  • The rooms are in an apartment system and they are very spacious as well as furnished. There is a good internet facility in the hostel.
  • A number of activities such as gyms, mess, indoor games facilities are there separately for girls and boys.
  • The students here get up early in the morning at the hostel and play basketball and volleyball. There are a number of training sessions for martial arts, dance, and music every day.
  • In the evening the students get to explore the enormous campus which is very beautiful and it is during this time that the interactive sessions between students and teachers of various departments take place.
  • Many cultural activities and events are organized at the hostel campus. All festivals such as Ganesh Chaturthi, Janmashtami, Lohri, Republic Day, are celebrated with lots of vigor and enthusiasm.
  • The campus is absolutely safe and secured one with a lot of security around the campus and 24X7 surveillance cameras.

The campus life is fun and you will surely remember your time there.

What are some reasons to not join BITS Goa?

SA
Saksham Anand Posted On : August 2nd, 2021
B.E Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering & Humanities, BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus (2019)

It is seen that joining every college has its advantages and disadvantages, no matter how renowned college it is. BITS Goa has very few reasons to not go there as everything is the best be it the campus, faculty, peers, or activities.

  1. You will meet amazing students at BITS Goa. The campus culture is very friendly and passionate.
  2. Faculty members are the best at the institution. Having great experience, they will offer you the best research opportunities and mentor throughout your academic career.
  3. Various clubs are present in BITS Goa. You will enjoy each and every one of them and learn a lot of new things.
  4. Goa is a famous tourist destination and the exposure it offers will always amaze you.
  5. The weather in Goa is beautiful and you will always love it outside.
  6. After spending your entire four years of your life in Goa you will not like any other place due to the weather and you will not enjoy the company of any other peer after passing from BITS Goa.

However, I feel there is a disadvantage at the campus. There is no mandatory attendance system followed which will make you very lazy and often led to missing classes. You will then depend upon the last-minute notes for preparing for exams.

What is it like to study in MIT (Madras Institute of Technology)?

JD
Jamna Desai Posted On : April 29th, 2021
Studied at Madras Institute of Technology, Tamil Nadu, India (2019)

MIT has been one of the best experiences for my cousin’s sister. It is a place to learn, grow and develop fond memories. Following are some unique things about MIT -

  • India's 11th president and aerospace scientist Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam used to teach here at MIT and won the heart of each student.
  • The support of seniors is priceless. During your first year, you will be constantly guided and supported by your seniors and this will inculcate a sense of goodwill in you as well towards your juniors in return.
  • The faculty is extraordinary. Not all but those few who are, are so good at the subjects they teach and ways in which they offer support that you'd remember them all your life. One such honorable mention is Prof Jothilingam of PT. The way he helped students with studies and opportunities was unparalleled.
  • Then comes the MITAFEST. One of the most loved and awaited college fests of the year. When the events begin, you'll feel all immersed in the celebration and festivities which follow. Definitely a recipe for delectable memories in the future.

The campus is serene and compact, it's not the largest, nor are there thousands of students. Rather you'll find yourself in a close-knit community.

Why isn't Google visiting NIT Trichy for campus placements? Have they blacklisted NIT Trichy?

AM
Anamika Mehta Posted On : September 7th, 2021

Every college has some internal issues with the corporate sector. NIT Trichy happens to have some issues with Google.

NIT Trichy’s training and placement department is rumored to have restricted Google from visiting the campus. An action was taken by the institute to prevent other companies from blacklisting the college. If the companies would have blacklisted the college, the placement sector here would have gone downhill.

What made NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal and NIT Surathkal stand out best among all NITs?

TD
Tamalika Dutta Posted On : April 12th, 2021
B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India (2019)

Honesty, discipline, and the values of the South Indian people and the states make them stand out. This might not be making sense to you, but will definitely try to elucidate the same here. Also, opinions vary among people.

One of my friends studied at NIT Trichy and he has lived in Hyderabad as well.

  • According to him, 4 qualities that make any institution the best are - Hard work, discipline, humbleness, and the eagerness to learn. The people in the southern state's priorities have these factors more than the people in the northern states.
  • The second point to note here is that, unless and until you get to the nerves, the people in the southern states are very calm and polite to you.
  • Most of the people in the northern states, on the other hand, are of a rowdy attitude. Verbal abuses are common here.

The students in these institutions are dedicated to learning and so are the teachers towards teaching. Moreover, the rules and regulations are followed strictly in these institutions.
