It depends on your future goals and interests. If you want to pursue a job afterward then CSE will be the best branch for you. It will give you better opportunities than any other branch. You can choose Mechanical if you are interested in the automobile sector. If you are interested in robotics then the ECE branch would be a better option for you.
The CSE branch is good at Amrita University because the college has various types of technical groups like FOSS. This group is dedicated to creating open-source projects and completing various technical projects like Google's summer code. There are a large number of selects for this kind of project as well. If you are interested in security systems then this college has got the number 1 CTF team. If you are interested in programming then there is a dedicated programming group as well. One of my cousins graduated from LNCT Bhopal. According to him, the college does not really care if you bring a laptop or not. It is important only if you don't have a computer system at home.
If you're from CSE or IT departments, having a laptop becomes very important, almost necessary.
The laptop is though not mandatory in the classroom, but you should have it for the provision of self-study, projects and to learn and practice new programming languages. Also it is extremely necessary for practicing coding.
There are strict actions taken so that students do not use laptops or cellphones in the classroom. If it is for a class project or research, you might be able to use it then in a classroom. If you plan not to buy a laptop, you can buy a PC for your house.

Yes, you will need a valid JEE Main score to apply for B.Tech at GJU. The institute shortlists students based on their JEE scores and the final selection is done through counseling. The counseling is conducted by the Haryana State Technical Education Society (HSTES).

I would advise choosing LPU because of the following reasons:
