IIT Kanpur has a sprawling campus of 1050 acres and beautiful infrastructure that makes it the dream college of many. It has many unique features that distinguish it from other IITs
Trust me when I say there is more!
It would be an excellent choice. It became an independent morning college in 2013, and its growth has been phenomenal since then. Ramanujan College has it all: amazing campus life and a fantastic learning environment. NAAC has awarded it a Grade A++ and a GPA of 3.71. According to the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2021, it is also ranked 53rd in the college category, with an overall score of 54.68.
Here are some distinguishing characteristics that set Ramanujan apart from the crowd:
Excellent Location: The college is in a prime location in Kalkaji, close to Epicuria, McD, Pizza Hut, Dominoes, and other restaurants. You will never run out of places to party.
Societies: This section is the college's true treasure. JAZBA, NSS, DNA, Shivranjani, Tark, TATVA, and other societies have always made the college proud.
Experienced Faculty: Friendly and cooperative.
Infrastructure: The building's infrastructure distinguishes it from all other DU colleges. The college has the best infrastructure in DU, with all modern amenities.
Crowd: It's almost a nurturing environment, with seniors eager to assist and juniors willing to collaborate. The college environment is always pumped up with some event, campaign, rally, or other activity that inspires students.
Go ahead and enroll in Ramanujan College if you're interested in that now. You will never be regretful of your choice. You'll be presented with numerous opportunities here; all you have to do is seize them wisely. Ramanujan, as the name implies, has an excellent academic record, but the authorities are extremely strict. You must have a certain percentage of attendance in order to take the semester exam.
Yes, one of my cousins decided to go for IIIT Hyderabad although he had the option of an IIT. The reason he made this decision was because he was certain of a career in CSE and wasn’t getting CSE in the top IITs. He was well aware that the IIIT Hyderabad CSE course is one of the best and toughest in India.
Today his father is proud of his bold decision. He claims the college ration the students in stress management through strict attendance even in games or yoga. The students are always busy with some or the other assignment.
However, the infrastructural facilities are great and the accommodation is quite comfortable. There are laundry services, good eateries, sports facilities, and a very friendly faculty pool.
The best part is the crowd quality as IIIT Hyderabad has no reservation policy. Initially, the compulsory attendance rule may seem a bit rigid but you will realize it does make your life disciplined.
All software giants are aware of the quality of students here and flock in groups to recruit the best minds. The institute has a record of 100% CS placements as it has the best CS course in the entire country with enough focus on research.
So, don’t hesitate from giving preference to IIITs instead of IITs just for the tag.
One of my friends studied at NLU. According to him, life at NLU was challenging. It was not difficult but challenging in a way that the beliefs he had changed gradually. It helped him learn things about himself and evolve. He learned that life in a hostel is what someone makes of it.
Speaking about NALSAR and NLSIU, both their campus extra-curricular activities are much more vibrant than NLU Delhi. However, both institutes have a competitive environment for study and also have a lot to offer, unlike NLU Delhi.
To know more about the life of a student at IIM Bangalore, let’s go through these aspects.
Campus life: The campus and infrastructure of IIM Bangalore is something no one can stop talking about. It’s top notch well maintained.
Hostels: The hostel rooms are the best you can avail with almost everything like study table, rotating chair, notice board, white board, a big almirah, bookshelf, mirror and a bed. To get your room cleaned you can make a request through an online portal. The washrooms are exceptionally clean.
Connectivity: The campus enjoys a good Wi-Fi connection and has an additional LAN port.
Food: The mess food is served 4 times that is breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. The quality and taste of food is like no other mess facilities of India.
Academics: The academics here are very rigid and you will have to manage your time. The first semester is packed with projects, submissions and exams. The second semester welcomes the more engaging summer placements. Students will have to study for their subjects as well as prepare for the placements. So the first half of the second semester is extremely busy while the second half is relatively relaxed.
Culture: IIM Bangalore has a strong culture and your seniors always ensure that you are not facing any problem. They also arrange sector talks for placements, resume guidance, academic mentorship and help in interview preparation. There is a strong harmony among the seniors and juniors.
So life of an IIMB students is full of ups and downs but really enriched. They are lucky enough to experience such an amazing rollercoaster of life.
My review of the Management Development Institute, Gurgaon is fairly objective and is based on my sister's review of the same. I have written a detailed review with elaborate pros and cons that might clear most of your doubts.
Pros
Campus: The campus is in the vicinity of all the dynamic places in Gurgaon like a cyber hub, sec 29, and golf course road. However, inside the campus, the ambiance is exactly different and serene. The infrastructure and campus are extremely beautiful, lush green, and well-built to give you a fairly dreamy experience.
No reservation: Unlike other B Schools, MDI Gurgaon does not reserve seats for minorities or any other groups. So the entire batch is usually 98 percentilers ensuring you avail the best peer learning experience.
Clubs: MDI Gurgaon has the usual clubs as well as the extraordinary ones like Unnati and Illumina Illumina is a disguised market research event, wherein a Diwali mela is organized on the campus. Marketing companies give out projects for market research to students who then create games to do research. Unnati is a fund operated by the students of MDI. Alums and students invest in it.
Faculty: The faculty keeps changing or retiring but the most permanent faculty is Prof. Sanjay Bakshi, who also runs a company called Value Quest.
Placements: The placements are definitely not at or with IIM ABC but are at level with IIM IKL or FMS.
Exchange program: The exchange program is one of the best in the country as almost one-third of the batch gets to visit Europe and get amazing exposure.
Alumni: MDI has its alumni in top positions in the corporate world as well as the startup world. Some of them include Paperboat, Instamojo, Cashify, etc. Some of the alums are in top positions like Amit Boni, who is the head of Motorola India.
Cons
Weak alumni base: The alumni meets are just official meet-ups not many are interested to attend. Only the recent batches meet and no one is interested in strengthening the network.
There are not many flaws one can point to this great Institute as you can see how the pros overshadow the cons and make it a good choice.
The life of an MBBS student at JIPMER is quiet and tiring. Yet, they get to learn and experience new things every day. Their daily schedule looks like this
In the evening some prefer playing basketball, football, hockey, table tennis, and badminton while others order just napping or hitting the gym. Some music lovers go to the band room to play out various symphonies and musicals. A few artist students spend their time participating or practicing for fine arts competitions.
September brings in a huge crowd of students from different colleges attending Spandan. It’s a 7 day intercollegiate cultural literary and sports extravaganza that makes the monotonous life of JIPMER students a bit vibrant.
October witnesses the Jipmer premier league ied teams of girls and boys. There is also Curie Day which is the annual girls' hostel day celebration. The hostel is open for boys as well and girls perform dance and sing. After all this enjoyment, the exams begin and students are reminded of their primary goal.
January is usually spent at home. In February, students go to Pune for the fest at AFMC -‘Silhouettes’. March brings in the tension of the annual university examinations and everybody can be seen surrounded by books. The seniors organize a wonderful Holi celebration- a cultural night followed by gulaal in the morning to ensure that students don’t succumb to the stress. With this the most happening year, the first year comes to an end.
The subsequent years bring in additional tasks such as Research projects, voluntary teaching, quizzing, etc.
My friend pursued his M.A. from JNU and according to him, he spent the best years of his life at JNU. He went to many well-renowned colleges and universities in the USA, however, JNU is unparalleled. At JNU, you will learn even when you are having fun.
Female students feel safe on campus. Male students are respectful towards their female counterparts. There are no whistles or cat-calling incidents on campus. Females can walk fearlessly from one end of the campus to the other, even at midnight.
Life for M.A. students is very hectic at JNU. It is more challenging than one can expect. If you do not maintain a healthy work-life balance, you will end up spending all your time sitting in a corner with your laptop and books. Even your group discussions will end up being solely about studies.
If you feel that it will be difficult for you to create a healthy balance between studies and enjoyment, you can join JNU as a Ph.D. student rather than as an M.A. student, you will then get more time to enjoy and experience life at JNU.
I have a few friends from IISER, and according to theM, life at IISER is quite interesting.
You may face problems at the beginning that are quite common and will be a part of your learning curve.
