What is meant by best four for DU?

AL
Aradhya Lamba Posted On : October 10th, 2022
BSc in Food Technology, University of Delhi

The rules for calculating the Best Four vary depending on the course you want to take. Each course will have its own set of rules for computing it. Some courses will make some subjects mandatory, which means that whether your score is high or low in them, you must include them in those four subjects in order to be admitted to that course.

The four subject criteria will not be present in every course. Some courses, such as Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Instrumentation, Polymer Science, and others, will only consider your PCM percentage, which is your marks in (Physics + Chemistry + Mathematics) divided by three. Some Biology courses will only consider the PCB percentage, which is (Physics + Chemistry + Biology)/3.

Many things will be said to you about admission to the University of Delhi, but many of them will be incorrect. To obtain accurate information, one must visit the college itself. Attempt to visit various colleges on a regular basis. Remember to take chances even if your score is less than 90%. You will have a better chance of admission if you visit colleges on a regular basis.

Can I prepare in 1 month for a B.Ed entrance exam at DU?

I
Inayat Posted On : October 10th, 2022
BA English literature from University of Delhi

The requirements for B.Ed admission to DU are as follows:

Written Exam:

If you work smartly and analyze the pattern of questions asked in previous examinations, devote a focused time period to preparation, followed by sufficient practice tests, you can certainly clear in one month.

If you are well-versed in your subject matter, there is very little required for you to do. Hard work comes after good fortune. So, first and foremost, your planning should be smart, and then, you must work and prepare well beyond the planned strategy. Each of us has our own set of self-beliefs and abilities. Thus, you do not have to compare yourself with any other person. Just believe in yourself and go ahead.

Interview:

During the interview, a panel of teachers/interviewers/professors will fire off all sorts of questions at you, including subject questions, psychology questions, general knowledge questions, confidence check questions, and, most importantly, your honesty, which is one of the most important aspects of being a good teacher. A good strategy, a lot of planning, focused work, confidence as well as a strong belief in yourself, are required.

Should I consider leaving Delhi University for B. R. Ambedkar University, Delhi?

AS
Arnab Singh Posted On : January 18th, 2022
MA English from Ambedkar University Delhi (2018)

It depends on the college you are getting admission under Delhi University. If you are able to get into one of the top colleges in the North or South campus of Delhi University, you should stick with it. Otherwise, choosing AUD over DU will be better. One other thing that you should consider while making the choice is your ultimate goal, i.e. research/job. You should definitely choose AUD if you are interested in pursuing research.

What are the future prospects of getting a BSc degree from DU? What are the best colleges in DU?

PM
Prashant Mathur Posted On : October 12th, 2022
Chemistry Honors from University of Delhi

In today's world, getting a bachelor's degree from any college isn't worth much.

DU has a brand name, but if your overall grades aren't good enough, having a degree from Delhi University is pointless.

By providing many resources and an intellectual environment, Delhi University will assist you in exploring various aspects of your personality.

However, if you have a bachelor's degree in any of the Science subjects or even Mathematics, you will need to do a master's or even a PhD to get a decent-paying job.

However, if you are an SRCC or Stephens graduate, you may be able to get a good placement from the college itself if you have a degree in Arts or Commerce with above-average marks.

The best colleges vary depending on your subject, such as SRCC for those interested in commerce. Stephen's is also regarded as one of the most prestigious universities. Other good colleges include Miranda House, Hindu, and Lady Shri Ram.

Which is better for M.Sc in environmental science DU or JNU?

VG
Vedant Gautam Posted On : October 12th, 2022
Lived in New Delhi

Both Delhi University and Jawahar Lal Nehru University offer Master's degrees in Environmental Sciences. However, there is a difference in the degree offered, which is primarily due to the approach to the subject. Candidates will be enrolled in the Masters of Environmental Studies programme at Delhi University, while the Environmental Sciences programme at JNU.

The distinction is due to the approach taken in developing the curriculum. Students at Delhi University are taught the socio-economical aspects of environmental sciences in addition to developing an understanding of the subject in the context of physicochemical and biological aspects of the environment (and their interactions). Subjects taught include "social perspectives of environmental studies" and "environmental economics." There is also a Masters in Arts (MA) programme for students with a background in the humanities.

The emphasis at Delhi University is on environmental ecology, pollution sciences, and biotechnology. Remote sensing, conservation sciences, statistics, geology, and environmental impact assessment are among the subjects taught. I believe the emphasis at JNU is more on the scientific aspect of the subject (which somehow seems legitimate since the degree is being offered for Masters in Science). Furthermore, 70-80% of the curriculum is shared by both universities. Though the JNU syllabus is extensive in terms of subjects such as hydrology and the fundamental principles/technical aspects of water and pollution movement.

How is the life of PG residents of DELHI university colleges namely MAMC, LHMC and UCMS?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : October 5th, 2023

The life of a PG resident of Delhi University colleges like MAMC, LHMC, and UCMS depends on the steam they belong to. For instance, LHMC OB-GYN and Paediatrics have the highest workload while the rest of the streams have relatively lesser workload.

Almost every stream has an equally high workload in MAMC be it Medicine, Surgery, Gyn, or Paediatrics. The heavy workload teaches the students to push their limits to achieve their goals. It trains them better and also imparts knowledge. Most MAMC graduates can handle any case confidently which even some consultants with an experience of more than 20 years find difficult to manage. UCMS on the other hand offers a moderate workload for all streams.

So, choosing MAMC will give you an all-rounded experience where you will gain maximum knowledge and experience. LHMC is a great choice if you are specifically interested in OB-GYN or Paediatrics only.

What is the minimum cutoff for admission in Delhi University?

SK
Sonia Kashyap Posted On : October 26th, 2021
studied M.A in English from Hindu College, University of Delhi (2021)

The cut-off depends on your choice of course and college. It varies every year and it can be as high as 99% and as low as 40%.

To give you a rough idea of DU Cut off, you require at least 94% marks for admission to science subjects. For commerce stream courses like B.Com, you must have scored 94% in the top 4 subjects including a language.

On the other hand, the cut-off for Humanities subjects must be between 90-92%. If you are interested in doing Hindi (Hons) or Sanskrit (Hons), the cut-off is very low for these programs. You can easily get a seat at St.Stephens with 66% marks in Sanskrit (Hons).

For South Campus, you can reduce 2-3% from the ones mentioned above. Take a look at the previous year’s DU cut-off for better understanding.
