Both of them offer good facilities to their students, which is why it can get difficult to choose either one of them. However, in order to get over the dilemma about which one would be perfect for you, go through these points which will eventually help you make the final call.

These are some of the major factors that you should be taking into consideration before making a decision about which one you would choose as your future institution.
Both the institutes are government institutes and provide best in class education when it comes to Fire and safety engineering. They offer good placement opportunities in government and private organizations with good packages. However, NFSC Nagpur might be the choice to go due to the following reasons.
CUSAT:
Let’s discuss CUSAT first.
NFSC Nagpur:
Considering all the facts above it is safe to say that NFSC Nagpur is the best option of the two. It is a central Govt. college under the Ministry of Home Affairs and has a rich alumni network in major public and private organizations.
Choosing between two colleges can be a difficult decision, and it ultimately depends on various factors such as your passion to learn and attain knowledge, personal preferences, career goals, and individual circumstances.
Here are some key points to consider when comparing the B.Tech Computer Science programs at TKM College of Engineering (TKMCE) and Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT):
Both TKMCE and CUSAT offer quality B.Tech Computer Science programs, and the decision ultimately depends on your personal preferences and career goals. It's recommended to research and compare the colleges based on the factors mentioned above and make an informed decision.
The cut off marks of CUSAT vary year to year. One of my sisters is an alumnus of CUSAT. As per her experience, there are basically two phases in the admission procedure.
Admission Process:
Given below is a short overview of the admission process at CUSAT.
Rank-wise Allotment:
Direct Allotment:
You should maintain regular phone contact with the admin panel of CUSAT.
CUSAT Cutoff 2020:
According to the 2020 cutoff trend, the required cutoff at CUSAT campuses for General category students are as follows.
Particular |
Thrikkakara Campus |
Kuttanadu, Alappuzha |
Cutoff |
103 |
678 |
My sister told me that in 2012, the last rank of CSE was around 12000, through the reservation quota. With this cutoff rank, students usually get admission to the Kuttan campus.
According to student reviews, the Kuttan campus does not have a good infrastructure. There are no compound walls, no bridge; thereby the threat of floods is very constant. Besides, the hostel rates are also very high, and some of the people are arrogant, with no permanent staff.
Photonics is one of the high-tech subjects that is evolved hugely in the last 20 years. It has applications in the areas of communications, computing, medicine, industry, defense, and entertainment. Having my friends from CUSAT enables me to provide you some valuable insights into the course.
MSc Photonics in CUSAT is a good course to do. It is emerging fastly as mentioned before and has a huge potential.
Integrated Course: One of the big advantages of choosing Photonics in CUSAT is that it is a 5-year integrated program compared to other institutes. This helps in dive deeper into the field of Photonics.
Interesting Electives: Another highlight of the program is the choice of electives they provide with the course.
Research Orientation: Students are subjected to a research atmosphere right from the start through the mini projects in the first and second semesters.
Good for Competitive Exams: The course is more inclined towards photonics and includes some important and interesting subjects like nuclear physics, etc. Having exposure to these subjects will help a lot while preparing for competitive exams.
Course Fee & Faculties: The college has excellent facilities and experienced faculty to guide you. The course fee is also quite reasonable.
Placements: When it comes to placements even though there are no direct campus placements many students are placed in many top companies like Varroc, HELLA, Valeo, Tech Mahindra, etc. Apart from the placements, many students opt for Ph.D. programs in many abroad institutes.
In short MSc Photonics at CUSAT is a wonderful course and you can definitely choose the program if you are interested in it.

Both colleges outshine one another on different fronts. While CUSAT has a more economical fee structure and a much larger campus. PES on the other hand scores better on the parameters of facilities and placements provided by the college. However, CUSAT is ranked much higher than PES in terms of college rankings and makes it a better option. The choice between the two colleges also depends on your preference between a private and a state-run university.
If you're considering CUSAT for your engineering degree, here are some important points to keep in mind:
Overall, if you're looking for a good engineering college in India and are interested in one of the specific disciplines mentioned above, CUSAT could be a great choice for you. Just be aware of the potential differences in placements across different branches, and consider switching to an IT company if you're in a branch with poor placements.
BTech Safety and Fire Engineering at CUSAT is a lucrative branch with great career opportunities. Almost 90% of students graduate with a placement offer. But the career outcome of the institute is limited since it is not a mainstream branch. You may face problems in the future if you want to go for competitive examinations like GATE. Go for this branch, only if you are sure that you want a career in this field. Since not many institutes offer this engineering degree, the competition is less. It is easy to secure a good placement opportunity.
Course Highlights:
The above discussion should give you an idea about the Safety and Fire Engineering at CUSAT.
CUSAT is a Govt. college and has a reputation around the globe. But it is up to you to make most of your time at the institute. One of my seniors attended CUSAT.
