Currently, NIT Calicut follows a hybrid grading system. While some subjects follow absolute grading, some subjects follow relative grading. It depends on the subject and the professor teaching the particular subject. However, a subject can have only one kind of grading system.
The relative grading system followed by NIT Calicut is different from that followed at the IITs. It has nothing to do with the percentiles. The marks obtained by the top 5% - 10% of the students are given the top grade, i.e. S. All other students are given grades lower than them accordingly.
There is no particular dress code for the classes. However, there are other necessities every student has to follow otherwise. The regulations include wearing shirts and denim for the labs of the electrical department.
Girls of the class are asked to go by the same rule, including rolling their hair up and wearing recommended shoes. While working in labs, lab coats are a must.
In any case whatsoever, since it is an educational premise, every student is generally asked not to wear dresses that can be deemed inappropriate.
Even after studying for four years in this college, any student will ultimately miss the ground, hostels, teachers, fests, and most of all the friends. It might really hit hard thinking that the college days are over. In the end, it doesn’t actually matter whether you are Malayali or a non-Malayali in the college. You as a student should enjoy it completely.
There may be friends, who would crib so much about how awful the place is. But it didn’t feel so to many others. This may be because they get homesick and miss their homes and being far away from them. They should try being relished there. There are so many things to explore and learn.
Being far away there from the most secure place, makes the students realize how important their homes are to them.
You must not miss out on the fun. Ragam and Tathva are very organized in NIT Calicut. The nights are just amazing and to look forward to it. The nights are fun-filled with crowds and high-profile singers. There are various ‘on the spot’ events held.
There should not be any separation between the students but it is really tough because cultural, social, and lingual differences sometimes creep in. Despite these facts, everyone there is quite amicable to one another. There is not much of a problem as such. And it won’t even affect that much. The student should just get along well.
I have a few friends from NIT Calicut and they talk about how great the coding culture is on campus. Here is what I gathered from my conversation with them.
You will be able to explore a lot in NIT Calicut if you are interested in Coding.
The facilities that you will get from Technology Business Incubator (TBI) at NIT Calicut are as follows.
In addition to this, you will also get
As of now there are thirteen incubate companies at TBI. Some of which are as follows.
So, these are the facilities that you will get from TBI at NIT Calicut.
You must know what you are getting yourself into. The mechanical engineering department of NITC offers 2 BTech courses that are Mechanical and Production. Both of these departments share faculties, labs, some courses, and other facilities. But at the end of the day, both are different courses.
There are two types of people seen in Production Engineering at NITC:
There are few things that students commonly felt during their days:

The placement options are not as rare as students may make out, but it may not be in the field that they are looking for.
So in the end one can say that, if the student truly wants to be a mechanical engineer, then this college probably isn’t for you. If they just want the NIT experience, then they should know what options they will have after college.
Every college has its own methods to train students. SPA is focused mostly on the market requirement and less focus on detailed analytical studies. IITs and NITs do not have undergraduate courses but if you want to pursue post-graduation courses then they are the best.
NIT Calicut is one of the best options due to the highly qualified faculty members and the major focus of the college is towards the holistic development of students. The atmosphere is also very familiar to live in Calicut.
Go for NIT Calicut if you have a Bachelor’s degree in Planning. You can practice various analytical methods especially demanded in the market today that can give you an edge over others.
Biotechnology is a research-oriented course and getting a job is not easy. If you are looking for a core job after completing B.Tech in Biotechnology, then you may face a struggle. Though the NIT tag will help you a lot in looking for opportunities and it is not completely impossible.
To open your options, you can go for higher studies after your graduation. Countries like the UK, Canada, and the US have considerably more scope than India in the domain of Biotechnology. You can pursue a Master’s in domains like Genetic Engineering, Food Technology, Soil Technology, Biomedical Engineering, etc.
The biotechnology department in NIT Calicut requires reforms in terms of faculty, students, industrial and research exposure, and lab work. It can only help with the NIT tag if you are applying to foreign universities.
At first, the term 'best faculty' is not an extensive classification basis. As we know Electronics and Communication are a vast field of engineering, and here we can classify roughly into Digital and analog domains.
The faculty members have different specializations and some are indeed true masters of their trend.
Dr. Sathi Devi and Dr. Elisabeth Elias are also doing remarkable work in their fields.
Dr. Praveen Sankaran, Ameer P M, Dr. Rama Subramanian, and Abhilash are some of the coolest ones among the faculty members and personal favorites of most of the students. They just not come to deliver lectures but also motivate the students and share their industrial experience.
NIT Calicut CSE is a better option compared to IIT KGP Agricultural. It offers good academics and placement opportunities for CSE. Companies like Amazon, Cisco, Infosys, Microsoft, etc. visit NT Calicut placements. During 2022 campus drive, students of CSE received an average CTC of around INR 20 LPA. The highest package for CSE goes up to INR 49-50 LPA.
