Which is better, civil in IIT Guwahati or mechanical at IIT Bhubaneswar?

IIT Guwahati offers a great Civil Engineering program. The department of Civil Engineering has excellent research infrastructure and state-of-the-art laboratories. This institute also offers national and international exchange programs, industrial training to help the student excel. IIT Guwahati got record placements in 2019, where 485 students out of 561 got placed from B.Tech and 177 students out of 353 got recruited from M.Tech courses. The highest package in IIT Guwahati was from Microsoft of INR 1.5 crores. Over 250 students have registered with major recruiters like Microsoft, Google, Oracle, IBM, etc.

IIT Bhubaneswar has a good Mechanical Engineering program. The School of Mechanical Sciences at IIT Bhubaneswar offers well-equipped laboratories along with a high-end computational laboratory. Out of 35 students of Mechanical Engineering, 32 got secured positions in campus placements. IIT Bhubaneswar had a sudden jump in 2019 with the placements of 89.5% at the end of the session. Around 89 companies visited the place with an average CTC of INR 11.44 LPA. 

Which IIT you will choose depends entirely on your interest. If you are passionate about mechanical then choosing IIT Bhubaneswar is the right option. In contrast, civil in IIT Guwahati is better where there are good placements in both core and non-core sectors with excellent benefits as well. So, choose accordingly.
