Instead of presenting stats, I will talk about the ground reality placements for this branch.
There are limited job opportunities in the core sector for Metallurgy students. Due to a lack of options during placement season, 9-pointers too end up in non-core sectors. Even GATE offers limited job opportunities. More than often, even 2-digit rank holders fail to get a call from PSUs.
But this branch is good for a career in research. You’ll have access to world-class facilities at labs like Material Research Center (MRC). Other than that, the Top 5 students from Metallurgy receive two-year research scholarships from the Ministry of Steel.
Maintaining a high CGPA is quite easy for B.Tech Metallurgy students of MNIT. These grades are important while applying for an MS at reputed universities.
Metallurgy from MNIT Jaipur is a good choice for future researchers. In terms of campus placements though, it's not a good choice.
