BITS Pilani, ranked 30th by NIRF amongst top engineering colleges in India, is very well renowned for electrical engineering and is also considered to be the best private institution. While IIT Tirupati was recently established and hasn’t been ranked yet by NIRF.

ADMISSIONS:

BITS Pilani

• For BE, a student must have 10+2 with 75%. For ME, a degree in BE/BTech with at least 60%.
• The entrance exam BITSAT is for BE Hons candidates whereas BITS HD for ME candidates.

IIT Tirupati

• A student must have 10+2 with 75%, to be eligible for BTech.
• For MTech, IIT graduates with a CGPA of 8/10 or above can apply with valid GATE scores.
• The candidates need to secure a rank in the range 4000-5000 in JEE Advanced

FACILITIES:

BITS Pilani

• There are 15 labs on the campus under the electrical department. Some of these are Embedded System, Power Electronics, Virtual Instrumentation, Analog & Digital Electronics, etc.
• LKM Travel Grant is available for EEE students to attend conferences of repute for their research work.

IIT Tirupati

• There is Materials Lab, Geotechnical Lab, Transportation Lab, Surveying Lab, Water Resource Lab, etc.

BITS Pilani

• 82.08% was the placement percentage for EEE.
• The highest international package for BE was INR 98 LPA.
• The highest domestic package for EEE was INR 44 LPA.
• The average package offered was INR 14.6 LPA.

IIT Tirupati

• The recruiters were Genpact, OYO, TCS, Levadata, L&T amongst 30 others.
• The notable recruiting sectors include core engineering, IT sector, analytics, consulting, and R&D companies.
• The highest package of IIT Tirupati in the year 2019 was ?22 LPA and the average package ?9.18 LPA.

BITS Pilani is considered to be a premier engineering institute and EEE students have higher opportunities and lucrative offers compared to civil at the present time. IIT Tirupati being a newly established college has still to offer a lot more facilities in the coming years. Hence, it is up to the individual to make an informed choice.

Both IIT Tirupati and IITPalakkad are government colleges, established recently. The first batch graduated in 2019 and these fall into the new generation of IITs and are yet to be ranked under NIRF.

Facilities

IIT Tirupati and Palakkad- Both these campuses are under construction as of now and students have to stay in a transit campus. Hence, all facilities cannot be availed yet.

Faculty and Academics

IIT Tirupati

• Teachers are highly qualified and supportive. Many of them are involved with various government funded research projects going on.
• Various seminars and workshops are conducted for students. Students are also taken on industrial visits for practical exposure.
• The college has collaborated with CSIR and GRIHA for training students under specific fields.

IIT Palakkad

• Rigorous curriculum with regular site visits to enhance exposure
• Collaboration with Auckland University for study abroad semester

IIT Tirupati

IIT Palakkad

Both the colleges are good and offer a wide range of benefits. They are new and the first batch graduated just last year, hence placements and facilities will increase with time. The choice of college depends on every individual’s discretion, resources and vision.
