The BTech degree offered in both the courses is similar so the foundation courses taught in the initial 2 years are exactly the same. From the third year, you will be asked to choose a lab where you will be conducting research. Students are given many options to choose from.

So the third year witnesses additional courses that are specific to your branch. Both CSE and CSD students will be working on similar problems and will be publishing research papers in the 3rd and 4th years. In the fifth year, students have to write their thesis. One of my friends joined CSE and Robotics Research Centre and is very happy with the results.
