IIT Hyderabad detailed review

Remarks :

I took JEE mains and the JEE advanced to get into this college. Its admission is based on the rank you get in the JEE advanced exam. The application forms for the exams are available online on the JoSAA website. If you qualify for JEE mains, then only you are allowed to take the JEE Advanced exam. Cut-off depends on the branch you are taking and ranges from AIR 200 to AIR 9000.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose this branch because the Biotechnology branch seemed interesting among the options that I had. The student-to-faculty ratio is great here at around 14:1. All faculties are highly qualified, many are IITians only. The exams here occur semester-long, including quizzes, presentations, projects, and all. Most of these exams are easy to pass if you just study a bit. Overall, academics and faculty are great here.

Internships Opportunities :

Internships are available at the end of the third year, for which the selection starts from the beginning of the 3rd year. Japanese companies also visit here like Nippon which provides internship opportunities in Japan, bearing all the expenses. The stipend is also pretty great which can go up to 2 lac per month.

Placement Experience :

Students here get an opportunity for internships at the end of 3rd year on campus, and the placements are at the end of 4th year. Many big names come to our campus like Google, Amazon, etc. The average package is around 20LPA here. About 90% of students get placed each year.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Fees are standard here, just like all other IITs. It is overall 3 llac per year including mess and hostel charges. And fee remissions are given to EWS people. People having lower than 1 lac annual income get a 100% tuition fee waiver, whereas those having less than 5 lac per annum get a 50% fee waiver.

Campus Life :

Decent fests are held at our college. There are numerous extracurricular activities organized in which we can participate. There are also various clubs you can join. The staff, including coaches, are very helpful and always ready to assist. Regular sports tournaments are also held in which we can take part. And the cultural clubs also keep organizing regular sessions. The new sports complex is also under construction which will be a world-class sports complex.

Hostel Facilities :

We get double sharing rooms in our first year, and we are then promoted to single rooms in the second year. Hostels are constructed based on Japanese technology. They have radiant cooling systems in built which helps keep the temp inside rooms cool in summer. Mess food is also good if we compare it to other colleges. Hostel charges are 16k per semester, same for mess charges.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this to get a degree in computer science which I thought would be better for me. The course curriculum is good as of now. The faculty-and-student ratio is okay too. But all of the faculty here are contract-based I suppose but are of good knowledge. The faculty inspires students to gain knowledge and motivates them to be independent as much as possible. They train students to be disciplined and are strict in that term. The teachers are also well qualified and of a good experience. The term exams got postponed due to the weather conditions and state holidays but apart from that, every other exam is conducted timely. But I would blame the correction for the pass percentage of the students from the university, though you would find the paper to score well.

Great placement was there, but the packages were a bit less due to the recession. placement percent is around 98-99%. Many students go for higher studies, I am also thinking of doing MBA or preparing for UPSC. The highest packege this year was around 70-72 lpa.
