The overall time spent at IIT Delhi is an exhilarating experience you will never forget in your life. The sense of freedom, new friends, and a new city will completely transform you. You will gain knowledge of both academics and life-related issues. You will make new friends in the hostel that will be with you in every struggle you face in your daily life be it academically or socially. The seniors will be your guiding light and teach you things that will save you from making foolish decisions and advice on important matters. In general everyone you will meet will be so full of knowledge and abilities that your motivation will always touch the sky. Some were fabulous sportspeople and taught winning strategies. The teachers are the most cherished treasures of IIT Delhi. They are the best you can find and their humble aura and dress up will not let you realize their achievements and knowledge bar. At IIT Delhi you can experience college life in the real sense. The cultural fests, night outs, parties and so many Clubs to join like BSW and BRCA make you create tons of memories. You will be left with memories of hanging out with friends at favorite spots of IITIans like Priya and PVR Saket, Hauz Khas village, SDA market, Pragati maidan, and Select Walk. Overall, the time spent at IIT Delhi will groom your personality in the real sense making you smarter, wiser, and more humble than ever.

I got CSE at IIT Delhi. Can I get a single room in the first year?

Do you think getting admission to the most coveted branch will also give access to the most coveted housing facilities? Well, you are wrong, inside IIT your rank has no value. You will be treated like any other student with equal amenities at your disposal. At IIT Delhi, every student is allotted a room randomly without any discrimination. First-year students usually get 2-seater or 3-seater rooms depending on the hostel they are assigned to. The single rooms you were asking for are usually allotted in the last year but some lucky students get a single room from the 3rd year in a new hostel like Girnar or Udaigiri. But regardless, your hostel will become your new home. Irrespective of the kind of rooms you are allotted, you get adapted to them and make splendid memories and new friends.

How was your first day at IIT Delhi?

Every IITian’s first day is a memory that stays with them forever, and is permanently ingrained, and so was my friend's first day at IIT Delhi. At around 11 in the morning, students were escorted to Dogra Hall, wherein an orientation session was conducted by the IIT Delhi director who briefed us about the institute administration and clarified basic doubts. The students were impressed by his speech and the two points that resonated the most with my friend were Students of IIT Delhi should target job creation and not job seeking. Despite a well-structured academic curriculum and research culture, why hasn’t IIT Delhi still been able to make it into the hundred top institutes globally? The orientation was followed by a tea session of 15 minutes at the LHC lobby. Students were escorted to department-wise orientation sessions that were addressed by the respective departmental heads. Once the orientation sessions concluded, students were asked to go back to the hostels, their new home for 4 years. A few formalities have to be dealt with related to the hostel BSW volunteers and how secretaries will always be at your disposal assisting you in every possible way. After lunch, she interacted with a few of her wingmates. The first day at IIT Delhi will surely leave a long-lasting impression on you and will be filled with exciting memories and discoveries.

What is the benefit of doing a part time MTech from IIT Delhi?

The course structure is very similar to that of the full-time course with very few exceptions like Less courses per semester but longer duration No hostel facilities provided Not allowed to sit for general placements Apart from these, both part-timers and full-timers can access the same lab facilities, attend the same classes and sit for the same exams and are also evaluated together.

Is IIT Delhi CSE best in india?

IIT Delhi is one of the top engineering institutes in India and is known for its Computer Science and Engineering program. According to various rankings, it is considered to be one of the best in the country. Unlike the faculty of other departments of IIT Delhi, this department has the most approachable and friendly faculty There are no compulsory attendance rules but the classes are interesting enough to attract students automatically Extensive research work in the department has made it one of the best departments of the Institute The peer groups are geniuses who are extremely hardworking and always ready to achieve the best. What should I be prepared for before joining IIT Delhi?

Nothing can prepare you enough for the intense life you will be experiencing at IIT Delhi. Yet, here are a few pointers that might help You will see a drastic decline in your rank. Students who were once school toppers will reach the bottom of the class. This is usually because students are chilled after JEE or face massive competition. The first-year Physics lecture and lab activities are the most challenging things you will face. Never copy your assignments as your professors are way smarter than you think Listen to the advice of seniors but pay heed to only the ones that your brain justifies. Make sure to use your freedom well and don’t let it become a reason for your downfall You might face partiality to a little extent but you must bear with it.

What is the worst course you've taken or have heard of at IIT Delhi?

In my opinion, the two worst courses one should refrain from ever taking in IIT Delhi are MCP 100 and MCP 101. MCP 100: This course is Engineering Drawing and is one of the most irrelevant courses offered at IIT Delhi. It is taught by prof Sujeet Kumar Sinha who has no teaching skills and is always in a rush to complete the course. The entire syllabus is completed in just 2 months leaving no space to comprehend what was taught. MCP 101: This course comprises concepts such as casting and welding which are not expected to be studied by an IITian at least. Both the courses are a complete waste of time and don’t do justice to the institute's reputation.

What was your CGPA in the first semester in IIT Delhi?

My sister was a student at IIT Delhi and was able to manage a decent CGPA throughout her first semester. What is it like to be a professor at IIT Delhi?

My friends' father is a newly recruited assistant professor at IIT Delhi and shared his experience of the same over tea. Facilities No extravagant salary is offered but that’s not what professors are usually after A new apartment has been built to accommodate faculty Every professor gets his own private space in the form of a small office Coursework Professors also have a lot of burden and each professor is expected to take one B.Tech and one M.Tech level course in 1 semester. There are around 42 lectures in a semester. The professors are free to determine the pedagogy as the exam papers are set and checked by them only. Even the mode of evaluation can be altered according to their will. Some professors don’t even take exams and evaluate students' performance based on class participation and term papers. Research Being a prestigious engineering institute, IIT Delhi is responsible for heaps of research work for the Government e.g Delhi Metro, BRT, Ganga Action Plan, etc. The professors-industry interaction is very low You get plenty of time to pursue your research work Career prospects Professors are of different levels: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor. The promotion depends on the quality of your research work. Overall, the experience is a mix of research and taking classes simultaneously with a lot of free time in your hand.

Do a PG student get a hostel room in IIT Delhi campus?

IIT Delhi has stopped providing on-campus hostel facilities to PG MTech students specially bound mainly due to the shortage of Hostel rooms inside the campus. Earlier they used to provide off-campus hostels that were in pathetic conditions. But starting from 2020, they have even stopped providing these off-campus hostels and students are expected to arrange for their accommodation. The students have to go to the hostel inside the campus for mess food and have to roam around without any permanent on-campus residence. Moreover, so much distance between their off campus residence and the college wastes a lot of time and they can hardly spare time for doing additional things like studying for an entrance exam. New hostels are being built to accommodate MTech students and hopefully, in the coming future you might see better hostel facilities for PG students.

IIT Delhi has a technologically advanced campus that is spread across 325 acres of land. University has developed two more campuses at Sonepat and Jhajjar apart from Hauz Khas which is main campus. Hauz Khas campus has state of art architecture, modern classrooms, labs and libraries.

As it is an IIT, there is no doubt that it has excellent academics with very good faculty members who explain our every doubt and topic in a very good way.
The job I had with the renowned HCL organization during my 7-week offer gave me the best industrial experience, and I honestly believe it was the best thing I could have done.
From Google to Amazon to investment banks and consultancies, as well as the best core companies, all were present and paid according to their industry standards.
The college placement committee members are highly experienced, and they work to improve the standards of college placement.
The library at IIT Delhi is one of the best libraries, having all types of books from engineering to UPSC.
I have opted for a hostel in IITD. Im staying in Zanskar Hostel of IITD. The faculty provided in the hostel is one of the best facilities you will get across India.
The college management should take care of students, rather than just imposing rules, to make this college the best in the world.

In our discipline, there was no company available for an internship, so we had to do it at our college itself during summer vacation.
Campus jobs are not available for BTech students; however, fees are charged according to family income, so not much aid is required.
The mess menu is also quite boring, of not good quality, and moreover, depends from hostel to hostel.
Few hostels are old, and the mess food is really bad. We dont have non-veg in the mess.

IIT Delhi Scholarship

Scholarship provided by college

Students enrolled across various courses at IIT Delhi are offered several scholarship schemes and financial assistance to lessen their financial burden and to cover academic and other expenses during the entire program. The institute offers both external and internal scholarships to its students based on their qualifications and scores. However, a student needs to satisfy minimum eligibility criteria to avail the facility of scholarship awards and grants. Some of the popular scholarship schemes offered by IIT Delhi are as follows:

Merit Cum Means Scholarship:

The MCM (Merit Cum Means) Scholarships are offered to the students in the Undergraduate Programs of Engineering & Technology or M.Sc Programs.
Only 25% of the students are sanctioned to get this scholarship as per the institute's rules.

Students of IIT Delhi whose annual family income or parent's gross income is up to INR 4.5 lakhs.

An award of INR 1000 is awarded per month to the students belonging to the GEN/OBC/EWS categories and the recipients are exempted from paying the tuition fee.
The tuition fee is exempted to all the students of the SC/ ST/ PwD category.

Research Assistance

Research Assistance is provided to the students who are enrolled in the Ph.D. or research programs at IIT Delhi and are willing to work for the department.
Any student enrolled in the research-based programs on a full-time basis at IIT Delhi.
A minimum of INR 15,000 is awarded per month to students who can work about 20 hours a week.
For the students enrolled in MS Research Programme, a sum of INR 24,000 is awarded per month to work 8 hours a week.
