Remarks :
We had to take an entrance exam CUET for admission into any college of DU. Cutoffs for prestigious colleges like SRCC, Hansraj, Hindu, and SSCBS were fairly high. The exam of all domain subjects and general test was conducted in 2 shifts and there were many glitches during the exam. For giving the CUET exam, an application form on the website cuet.samarth.ac.in needed to be filled and afterwards, preferences for course+ college combination needed to be filled in preferential order for DU. The eligibility of each course was mentioned on the Samarth portal itself. Through the CUET, one can apply for all listed Central Universities
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose BSc HONS Statistics because it is in high demand nowadays in the job market and has high career prospects. There are 3 core subjects in each semester for which 3 professors are there along with additional subjects like GE, VAC, SEC and AEC. The faculty-student ratio is good for my course i.e. 1:20. Some professors are highly qualified as I studied at IIT Kharagpur and some only have a normal qualification. The teaching method also depends on and varies from professor to professor. One professor is very experienced and teaches nicely whereas the other 2 don't teach that better. Exams were duly conducted on their due dates and it's not very difficult to pass the exams. One who has studied averagely well can pass the exams easily.
Placement Experience :
The college provides various placement opportunities for the students who have graduated. However many students don't sit for the placement and go for higher studies most preferably MBA. The average placement salary starts from 5.5 LPA and salary varies according to the job profile and knowledge of the candidate. Candidates should have another degree as well along with college studies to be immediately placed after the degree. Salaries can range from 5LPA to 12LPA. Students of semester 6 become eligible to apply for the placement.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
My annual fee is only Rs16281. The college also provides financial assistance and special aid to economically weaker students and helps them in all respects. The college also provides a vice chancellor internship scheme in which stipends are also available as per the work performance. Compared to private colleges, the cost of studying here is very low. The college also provides some job opportunities but one also has to search for jobs in his field on their own behalf to be on the safer side.
Campus Life :
Social life is good for a person who has a big friend circle. Fest are conducted in Delhi University though not too regular. Classrooms don't have amenities like many fans are also not working but labs have air conditioners also. There are a lot of societies by taking part in which one can learn a lot. One also learns communication and leadership skills by actively engaging in societies. Sports and extracurricular activities are not too much active and is the area to be focused upon by the University and college. Libraries have a lot of books and journals that can be read and are open to all.
