Starting from 2021, JIPMER requires a one-year compulsory internship aimed at enhancing students' work experience and expertise. Post-internship, students are guided to other institutes for better placement opportunities, salaries, and further experience. For the course beginning in October 2023, the annual academic fee is set at 11,000 rupees for the first year, then decreases to 6,000 rupees for the second and third years. A caution deposit of 3,000 rupees is needed in the first year.
Hostel fees are 20,000 rupees in the first year, including an 8,000 rupee caution deposit, and drop to 12,000 rupees in subsequent years. Students have various mess options costing 3,000 rupees per month for food. Separate hostels exist for allied health and MBBS students, with MBBS hostels offering more facilities. The hostel complex includes sports amenities like a football turf and basketball court. First-year students can access various scholarships, including those from the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), providing substantial financial aid.
The fee structure is considered affordable with no recent increases.
