Yogi Vemana University, established in 2006, offers a full-time Ph.D. program across various disciplines, namely, Science, Arts, Computer Applications, Management Studies, Commerce, Education. Admission to its Ph.D. programs is based on the candidate’s performance in the Yogi Vemana University Research Common Entrance Test [ YVURESCET ] is conducted by the University followed by an interview round. Candidates who have qualified national levels exams like CSIR-JRF (NET) and UGC-JRF (NET) and fulfill the requirements of time criteria only are exempted from appearing for YVURESCET.

Yogi Vemana University Ph.D. Eligibility criteria
A candidate seeking admission into the Ph.D. (Full-Time) program shall be required to fulfill the following:
- Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in any subject from any University in India as per the UGC Act, 1956. Candidates must have secured not less than 55% marks on the aggregate or equivalent to it.
- Relaxation of 5% of marks shall be allowed for those belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC. A medical examination will be done for the candidates belonging to OBC-NCL and the physically disabled category.
Yogi Vemana University Ph.D. Admission Guidelines
- Candidates shall be selected as per their performance in the common entrance test conducted by YVU or APRSET.
- A candidate must secure no less than 40% marks in the entrance examination.
- Students who have qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC/CSIR (JRF or LS)/APSET/ any UGC accredited examination or any other National level examination equivalent to NET examination or GATE with a valid score shall be admitted into the Ph.D. (Full-Time) program. These candidates shall not be needed to qualify themselves in YVURCET/ APRSET. GATE score shall only be valid for two years prior to the date of notification.
Application Procedure
- The candidates seeking admission into Ph.D. shall have to apply against the notification released by the concerned department of Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa, or APRSET in the prescribed form which then will conduct the entrance examination for eligible candidates.
- The candidate’s list consisting of the students who will have qualified in the examination will be sent to concerned departments by the Directorate of Admissions, Yogi Vemana University.
- The Candidates who are seeking admission in an interdisciplinary area shall have to obtain the consent of the research supervisors who will be ready to supervise the research work of the candidate jointly. This process must be done before submitting the application.
- Every candidate admitted into the program shall be needed to elaborate the broad area of research to the respective Principal within 45 days from the date of registration. Principal/Dean shall issue proceedings in relation to the title of the topic of research.

Yogi Vemana University Ph.D. Course Details
Research Students registered for Ph.D.(Full-Time) shall be needed to submit the thesis, not before the completion of a minimum period of three years from the date of registration.
- The Candidates shall have to complete the program within a maximum period of six years.
- Women researchers who have availed of maternity leave will be given time to submit the thesis, not before the completion of a minimum period of three years. The minimum and maximum period will be decided on the basis of the time duration of maternity leave.
- The Candidate failing to submit the thesis in due time shall be asked to pay a prescribed fee to seek permission from the University to do it on a later date. Permission shall be granted for a year at a time and that also two times only. No further extension requests will be entertained.

Ques. What are the documents required to be submitted at the time of admission in the Ph.D. course at Yogi Vemana University?

Ques. Can a Ph.D. scholar change his/her supervisor?
Ans. Yes, After completing a minimum period the candidate shall be allowed to change his supervisor or submit the thesis without any supervisor, the University shall make necessary arrangements for the continuation of the program.
Ques. What if the supervisor assigned to the scholars resigns?
Ans. If the research supervisor leaves the country or resigns or is on a long leave, then the candidate shall have the option to transfer himself/herself to work under some other supervisor who is willing to supervise, provided the supervisor has a clear vacancy.
Ques. Are the attendance rules in Ph.D. programs strict in Yogi Vemana University?
Ans. Research students shall be required to be present during working hours and shall sign in the attendance register on every working day. The HoD of the concerned department shall maintain the attendance register and submit the monthly statement of attendance of all research students to the Principal/Dean and a copy of the same will be sent to all research supervisors.
Ques. Is there any option of conversion from full-time Ph.D. to part-time in Yogi Vemana University?
Ans. Yes, They shall be permitted to continue their research on a part-time basis if certain conditions are met like production of the appointment order, service certificate, and no-objection certificate duly signed by the employer. The candidate shall make a request within three months after joining in the permanent employment. He/She will have to pay the prescribed fee and submit the request for conversion to their principal/dean. He/She shall be allowed to submit the Ph.D. thesis after a period prescribed herein below:
- Four years for those candidates who have completed one-year of Full-Time research.
- Two years for those candidates who have completed two years of Full-Time research.
