Some of my friends attended Gauhati University. According to their experience, the university offers a decent MBA program. The degree course is not that competitive, but the course curriculum is up to industry standard.
Gu offers decent hostel accommodation. The campus life is also quite good. According to the recent placement highlights the highest CTC offered was 5 LPA. Some of the major recruiters that visit the campus placement are OIL, CocaCola, etc.

Gauhati University Campus is one of the greenest campuses in Assam. The University is also popularly called the “Land of Gulmohar” since it has abundant Gulmohar trees inside its campus. Gauhati University campus is a site of local biodiversity since it has numerous wetlands and Botanical gardens. The campus has several facilities that make students' life easy and enjoyable. Academic Facilities
- Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF): This facility was established at Gauhati University Campus to facilitate the research activities at the University. At present CIF is housed in the Department of Chemistry, Gauhati University as the permanent CIF building is being constructed. The facility currently has a Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM), a High-Resolution Mass Spectrometer (HRMS), and an Atomic Force microscope (AFM).
- Institutional Biotech Hub: The Institutional Biotech Hub at Gauhati University campus was sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology; Govt of India. The Institutional Biotech Hub (IBH-GU) is boosting the infrastructure facility for molecular biology and proving the atmosphere for research and education. Besides the Department of Biotechnology, other Departments like Botany, Chemistry, and Zoology are also availing this facility.

- GU Hospital: Gauhati University Hospital is the primary healthcare facility of Gauhati University campus. Besides the services it provides to the university community, the GU Hospital remains a primary source of healthcare facilities to the neighboring regions around the university campus. - Faculty members are also very supportive and helpful. All teachers are hardworking and give their best to impart knowledge.
- Students are offered internships under various courts, including high courts, with a very nominal stipend of 5-6 thousand per month.
- Nowadays, the government has recognized Sanskrit as the official language, so it will be of great help to us in obtaining administrative jobs.
- There are plenty of scholarship schemes available in the college, ranging from 20-40 thousand in a year.
- College life is that part of your life which you will relive in your memories until you breathe. To participate in any sports event, the campus is very beautiful.
- I have seen my friends staying there, and I have also visited there. These hostels are good and well occupied with all the required stuff.
- At the end, I must say that our college has the best professors and the best facilities in labs in the North East.
Dislike
- The placement and job opportunities are not good enough. Its really hard to get a job. Our university does not fulfill the job opportunities for students. It creates so many problems.
- Since it is a government college and the fees are not high, there is no loan system in our college. However, we receive a government scholarship every year.
- I stay in PGs, but the rent of PGs is very high. As for hostels, the rooms are often dirty and unpainted, making it very difficult for students to study
