Gauhati University offers admission to B.Ed program at the PG level. Graduation or Master’s degree with 50% marks (45% for reserved categories) is the minimum eligibility criteria for admission. Admission is granted as per the

GUBEDCET is a 100 marks MCQs based paper for the duration of two hours. Final admission is offered by providing 30% weightage to the marks obtained in 10+2 and Graduation and 70% weightage to the GUBEDCET score.

Eligibility

 The minimum eligibility for admission to B.Ed program is a BA/ B.Sc/ B.Com. or MA/ M.Sc/M.Com or equivalent degree from a recognized university with at least 50% marks. 

Selection criteria

Admission to B.Ed program will be granted on the basis of GUBEDCET 2023 score. The GUBEDCET Entrance test will consist of 100 questions of 400 marks. The duration of the Entrance exam will be of two hours thirty minutes duration. 

The questions in the Entrance test will be in MCQ format with four alternative choices of which only one answer will be the correct option. The test will consist of the following sections:

Note: The test Booklet and the OMR will be in English. There will be 4 marks for the correct answer and (-1) for the wrong answer. 

GUBEDCET Test Centers: Guwahati, Nagaon, Nalbari, Tezpur, Mangaldai, Barpeta, Goalpara, Dhubri and Bongaigaon.

Gauhati University offers B.Tech in four specializations under Gauhati University Institute of Science & Technology (GUIST). The minimum eligibility to apply is 10+2 (PCM/B) with 50% marks from a recognized board. Admission is offered on the basis of candidates’ performance in Assam CEE. Final seat allotment is based on counselling conducted by the university.

Eligibility

The basic eligibility criteria for admission to B.Tech programs offered by Gauhati University is 10+2 in Science stream with 50% (45% for reserved categories) aggregate marks.

Selection Criteria

 Admission to B.Tech program is granted on the basis of JEE Main or CEE (Assam) score. Candidates, who are successful in clearing the cutoff criteria will be called for counselling process. 

Gauhati University will release the counselling list along with the date, time and venue of counselling on the University website.  Candidates seeking admission to B.Tech (Lateral) will be granted on the basis of score in Entrance Exam conducted by GU. 

Key Notes: 

• Candidates with Valid PRC of Assam can attend for the counselling process.
• Maximum 20% seats will be filled up from JEE Main qualified students.
• The counselling for JEE (Main) qualified students will be held at the GUIST premises.

Gauhati University B.Tech Application: How to Apply?

Admission to the B.Tech program of Gauhati University will be granted on the basis of common counselling of JEE Main or CEE (Assam). Candidates are required not to fill any application form. However, students can submit the form at the temporary counter on CEE(Assam) or JEE Main Counselling venue. 

Documents Required at the time of Admission:

Candidates seeking admission to B.Tech program of Gauhati University are required to bring self attested copies of following documents at the time of admission:

• Admit card of CEE(Assam)/JEE Main
• Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC)
• HSLC pass certificate/Admit Card as proof of age
• Higher Secondary pass certificate
• Mark sheet class 10, 12, Diploma (if any)

Gauhati University offers full time M.Tech program for a duration of 2 years. The M.Tech program is offered in the following specializations: 

• Material Science and Technology (18 Seats)
• Biotechnology (30 Seats)
• Signal Processing and Communication (18 seats)
• Signal Processing and VLSI (18 Seats)
• Information Technology(18 Seats)

Eligibility

M.Tech: B.Tech degree in relevant specialization  with 50% marks in General Category and 45% marks for reserved categories. 

Selection Process

 50% seats in M.Tech program will be filled by GATE qualified candidates. For admission to the remaining 50% seats Gauhati University will conduct an Entrance examination.

The Entrance test will consist of objective and descriptive questions. The paper will have 3 sections , namely 

Section A: General Objective Type MCQ (20 Marks), 

Section B: Subject specific Objective type MCQ (50 Marks)

Section C: Subject Specific descriptive type MCQ (30 Marks)

Gauhati University Admissions 2023: How to Apply?

Application form for admission to PG programs offered by Gauhati University can be filled online. The detailed process is given below:

4. Upload a scanned copy of the passport size photograph and click submit.

Gauhati University offers postgraduate courses like MA, M.Sc, M.Com, M.Ed & LL.M in various disciplines. Graduation in the relevant field is the minimum eligibility criteria for admission. The programs are offered in the following specializations:

Admission to all the courses is granted on the basis of candidates’ performance in the qualifying examination and an entrance test conducted by the university. Gauhati University also offers admission to M.Com integrated on the basis of a valid score in the entrance test.

Eligibility

MA: For admission to the Post graduate programs of Gauhati University, candidates should have a B.A./B.Sc. (in the 10 + 2 + 3 pattern) degree with Major/ Honors Course in a relevant subject. or B.A./B.Sc. with a general/pass course with 45% in aggregate CGPA as well as in relevant subjects. 

M.Sc: 

B.A./B.Sc. (in 10 + 2 + 3 pattern) with a Major/ Honors Course in the concerned subject. OR B.A./B.SC. (in 10 + 2 + 3 pattern) with General/ Pass Course with at least 45% marks in the concerned subject as well as in aggregate or equivalent CGPA.

M.Com: 10+2 pass or equivalent with minimum 55% marks in aggregate

M.Ed: B.Ed from a recognized university.

M.Li.Sc: Candidates should have a B.Li.Sc degree.

LL.M: LL.B with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from any university.

Selection Process

Admission to UG programs of Gauhati University will be granted on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination. The university will publish merit list on the Gauhati University website. Candidates having their names in merit list should report to the University, submit documents and fees to confirm the admission.

Gauhati University offers MBA and MBE courses full-time for the duration of two years. MBA and MBE courses require a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks in aggregate.

MBA Specializations: Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, and Production, 

MBE Specializations: Business Economics

Eligibility

Candidates having a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks in agrregate are eligible to apply for MBA program at Gauhati University.

Relaxation upto 5% in the qualifying marks shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to the reserved categories. 

Selection Criteria

• MBA admissions will be granted on the basis of score in the Entrance test. Candidates who do not hold an Entrance Exam score can also appear for the Entrance Exam conducted by Gauhati University. 
• For MBA programs, the candidates who have appeared in any All India Common Entrance Test and scored more than 75% in graduation are exempted from the entrance examination.
• The entrance examination conducted by the university will test English language skills, general awareness and quantitative aptitude.
• Applicants clearing the written examination or having a valid MAT/CAT/XAT/CMAT and other national level MBA Entrance Test score of 75 percentile or more will be finally selected for admission based on their performance in Entrance Test score, Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

Gauhati University also offers M.Phil & Ph.D. courses in various specializations. Admission is done through the Central Application Process (CAP). Master’s degree in the related discipline with at least 55% marks in aggregate is the minimum eligibility criteria for admission.

GU Ph.D Eligibility

• A candidate having a postgraduate degree in relevant discipline of Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, Law, Technology, Fine Arts, Engineering, and Medicine or other professional subjects with 55% marks is eligible to apply.
• The minimum marks for SC/ST/OBC candidates or a differently-abled candidate (with equal to or more than 40% disability) is 50% or equivalent grade.
• The candidate who has M.Ed. the degree can apply for the PhD programme in the Education Department for research on a topic related to Education, Education System, Curriculum, Teaching Methods, and Educational Technology.

GU Ph.D Selection Criteria

Selection is based on merit in an entrance examination conducted by the university , i.e Gauhati University Research Eligibility Test (GU-RET). The test is divided into two papers, the first tests general aptitude, computer knowledge and reasoning abilities while the second part tests subject-specific knowledge.

CSIR/UGC-JRF, ICMR-JRF, ICAR-JRF, DBT-JRF or equivalent exam qualified candidates are exempted from appearing in GU RET. Such candidates have to appear only in the interview round conducted by the university.

The admission through exempted seats are only 50% of the total seats and if the candidate is not getting the seat through exempted one then he/she can try through the GU-RET 2023 exam.

Admission to Ph.D and M.Phil programs will be granted on the basis of Central Application Process (CAP). The Entrance test will be conducted in MCQ format and will consist of the following sections:

Note:  In each section of GU RET 2 marks will be awarded for each correct answer whereas 0.5 marks will be deducted for each incorrect entry.

The result of GU RET will be published on Gauhati University website in the form of merit. The university will also release a subject wise merit list. 

GU RET Counselling: After the publication of the merit list, students having their names in merit list and exempted students will be called for the counselling process. The counselling carries a total of 20 marks and candidates failing to appear in the entrance test will not be able to take admission.

Gauhati University Ph.D Admission: How to Apply?
