Ph.D (English) (Part Time) From IGNOU, New Delhi

The candidates must possess a Master’s Degree from a University recognized by UGC or any other qualification recognized as equivalent thereto in such fields of study as are notified for the purpose from time to time by the University with at least 55% marks [50% marks in the case of SC, ST, OBC (Non-creamy Layer) and Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of UGC from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19th September 1991] excluding grace mark.

IGNOU Ph.D. English Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates applying for Ph.D. English admission at IGNOU must have passed Master’s degree or M.Phil in Economics
• Must have secured minimum 55% aggregate marks in M.Phil or masters
• Must have qualified IGNOU Ph.D. Entrance exam
• Candidates with M.Phil or who have qualified UGC NET / JRF are exempted for IGNOU Ph.D. Entrance Exam

Note: 5% eligibility marks relaxation for reserved category candidates

IGNOU Ph.D. English Assignments

Assignments constitute continuous evaluation. The marks that you secure in the assignments will be counted in your final result. As mentioned earlier, an assignment of a course carries 30% weightage. You are therefore advised to take your assignment seriously. 

Non Submission of Assignment

The TMA for each semester can be downloaded from the Student Zone of the University website. You have to complete the assignment within the due dates specified in the assignment booklet. You will not be allowed to appear for the term-end examination for any course if you do not submit the assignment in time for that course. If you appear in the term-end examination, without submitting the assignments, the result of the term-end examination is liable to be canceled.

Assignments

The assignment will be given as a means of continuing assessment of theory and practical Knowledge and will consist of sets of questions and activities that one has to answer as per one pace and knowledge. These assignments will cover all the types of questions like long, short, objective, multiple-choice, and case studies type of questions. 

All these assignments will carry 30% weightage in the final result and thus everyone is required to get at least 50% marks in each assignment and each assignment carries 100 marks.

Term-end Examination

The term-end examination carries 70% weightage in the Final result. It is conducted twice a year in June and December. If a student fails in the Tern-end Examination, then he/she can reappear in the next Term-end Examination for the course.
