• A valid and readily accessible Email Id.

The candidates who seek admission to a doctoral program must have a Second class Master’s Degree or an equivalent Degree with at least 55% aggregate marks in the subject in which the candidate wants to pursue his/her research or in an allied subject.

1. The Application for admission may only be submitted Online at Jamia Millia Islamia’s website online admission form.There is no printed application form for admission.
2. While submitting the application, the candidate is required to make a payment of Application Fee as prescribed in Table:

3. The fee may be paid either by Credit Card/Debit Card/Net banking or through E-Challan generated during the filling up of form online. In case of E-Challan the fee may be paid in any of the branches of Indian Bank.
4. The Application Fee once received successfully at JMI’s end is non-refundable and no correspondence on this subject will be entertained.
5. The JMI shall only refund the Application Fee in cases of failed transactions identified at JMI’s end. 

M.Phil. and Ph.D. admission are based on candidates’ performance in Written Test conducted by JMI followed by an Interview and evaluation of Research proposal. Master’s degree with 55% marks in the relevant discipline is the minimum eligibility criteria for admission.

Selection Process

UGC/ CSIR (JRF)/ GATE/ SLET or M.Phil passed candidates are exempted from Ph.D. Entrance Test. Teacher Fellowship holders are also exempted from the test.

JMI Ph.D. Entrance Test: The test is conducted in English medium except for Language subjects. Students have to pass both section A and B in order to be shortlisted for Interview.

Qualifying in the entrance test would not give any right to admission to the candidate.

Exam Pattern

• The test will have two parts. 
• The first part will be of one hour and will contain 50 MCQs. 
• The second part will be two hours long and have 50 MCQs and 50 subjective questions.
