About Gargi College

Gargi College is a constituent of Delhi University and is one of the leading colleges for women. It is ranked 9th in the Arts category, 12th in the Science category, and 14th in the Commerce category by India Today 2022.Gargi College is also accredited by the NAAC with a grade ‘A’ and is similarly approved by the UGC. The college offers UG and PG courses under Arts, Science, Commerce and Education and Management departments. Admission into the UG programme is now based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), followed by e-counseling. For admissions into the PG courses candidates are required to appear for the CUET PG entrance examination which is conducted by the NTA.

Gargi College Admission Process 2023

Gargi College offers admission to the UG and PG courses. Admission to the UG courses is based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). The final selection will be made through e-counselling on the basis of CUET marks. Candidates seeking admission through sports and extracurricular activities will be required to appear for a performance test along with the CUET. Selection of candidates for ECA will be made on a combination of CUET examination score and the candidate’s performance test. Candidates must have a minimum of 25 percent score on their CUET and a minimum of 75 percent score on their performance test.

Admission to the PG courses at Gargi College is done through CUET PG. As per the DU admission policy, 50% seats will be reserved for DU students, while admission to the 50% seats will be provided through CUET PG.

Gargi College Application Process

Candidates applying for admission at Gargi College can follow the below mentioned steps:

Candidates have to register themselves on the common application portal
After the registration, candidates can begin to fill the Online Application Form using their credentials
Candidates must fill the Online Application Form with care as they will not be able to make any changes in the future.
Candidates are advised to carefully select the college and courses they want to opt for UG programmes.
Candidates need to attach certain documents while submitting the form such as photograph, signature, identity proof, etc.
Candidates need to pay the application fee at the time of submitting the form or else the Online Application Form will not be considered.
Candidates can login to their portals for any new updates, college cutoffs and so forth.
Candidates who are accepted must report to college where the cutoff percentage is met.
Candidates will be required to carry some documents with them such as Character certificate, provisional certificate, self attested photocopies of all the documents submitted above, class 11 and 12 original marksheets, etc.

Gargi College Scholarships

The college provides scholarship aids only after confirming the income of students. Students whose annual family income is INR 2 Lakhs or less are eligible for the aid.

S.K. Sood Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship is for the two sportswomen, the prize is INR 6000 per annum.
R.P. Cricket Academy Scholarship: This is for the 2 sportswomen of INR 6000 each year.
Suhodh Chandra Amiya Banerjee Scholarship: This is for the two meritorious and needy students whose family income does not exceed INR 500 each month.

Gargi College Facilities

Library: The college has a library with a good stock of books. Around 1049 books were added till February making a total of 71315 books overall. The library has 107 CDs, subscription of newspapers, 55 journals/magazines out of which 04 have free online access.
Laboratories: Gargi College has departmental laboratories. The Botany, Chemistry, Elementary Education, Microbiology, Physics, Psychology and Zoology laboratories are not only spacious and well equipped but also ventilated with various resources.
Faculty: The college has highly educated, accomplished, well versed faculties to give adequate guidance to the students so that they can reach the greatest heights. Gargi college has around 185 faculty members.
Auditorium: The college has its own state-of-the-art auditorium with a strength of 750 spread over the main floor. The auditorium is fully air-conditioned and solar lights are installed.

What Students Say?

The university provides internships in the University which is the best way to learn skills during the college.
Delhi university is known for its campus life which is no doubt best.
Canteen food is one of the best thing in Gargi college.
Fests and societies are best part of gargi because gargi is famous for their fests.
College life in gargi is awesome, although there is no hostel in it but still its great to just sit in the campus and enjoy all the facilities they provide us.
Events: University organise so many events and invite good speakers which provides with so many good oportunities to the students.
Campus was clean and good surrounding , faculty is also good , library , canteen.

Dislike

I am not aware of any scholarships or loan facilities offered by our college. I have also not availed myself of such opportunities.
The infrastructure was quite good, but there is a network problem in my college. I found it very difficult to call someone or search something on the internet. The hostel environment should be healthy; students just dont find themselves trapped.
My college does not provide any hostel facility, unlike the other colleges of Delhi University
