Masters of Fine Arts (M.F.A) is a postgraduate course in the study of visual and performing arts. A candidate has to be a Bachelor of Fine Arts from a recognised university in order to be eligible for this course. 

Masters of Fine Arts is a two year program and some colleges offer the course with a specialisation or give the candidate the freedom to choose a specialisation while doing the course. The course is completed over the duration of four semesters.  The mode of admission is either through Entrance Examination or on the merit marks in qualifying examination followed by a personal interview.

The average tuition fee for the entire course ranges between 75,000 INR to 1.5 lakh.

Masters of Fine Arts graduate can obtain jobs in sectors like Graphic Designing, Electronic/ Print Media, Art directing, and Consultancy and can work as Graphic Designer, Illustrator, Art designer, Design Consultant, and Production Manager. A fresh graduate of this course can expect an average annual salary of 1 lakh to 2.5 lakh.

Academic Options after M.F.A

After this Masters course, interested students can also pursue a Ph.D. in Fine Arts from colleges like Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi, Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar, Mangalayatan University, Aligarh.

Candidate must have passed a bachelor's degree in the discipline of social sciences/ commerce/ Sciences obtained through the 10+2+3 system of education with the relevant subject or equivalent from a recognised university to take admission in this programme.

Candidate must have secured minimum 50% marks in the respective qualifying examination.
