Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) Pune M.Tech. Admissions 2023: Eligibility, Forms, Dates

DIAT Pune offers M.Tech in Following specializations:

DIAT in association with Cranfield University offers a Dual Degree program, where the candidates will receive two degrees concurrently, i.e., M.Tech and M.Sc.

The Dual Degree program is offered to sponsored officers from the Indian Army, Navy, Air force, Defence Public Sector Undertakings, DRDO, and Indian Ordnance Factory as well as civilian scholarship students.

DIAT Pune MTech Admission 2023 Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for admission to any of the courses mentioned above, the candidate must abide by the criteria set up by University.

Candidates applying for admission under the Scholarship Category must possess the following qualifications:

• A relevant Bachelor’s Degree with an aggregate of 55% marks or 5.5 CGPA in the qualifying examination from a recognized university.
• A valid GATE Score.
• The candidates who are in the final semester of their degree are also eligible to apply, mark-sheet up to the last semester should be provided.
• The upper age limit is 26 years (relaxation to the SC/ST will be provided as per the rules set by the government of India)

Candidates applying for admission under the Sponsorship Category must abide by the following to be considered eligible:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline with a score of 55% or 5.5 CGPA in the qualifying examination from a recognized university.
• The sponsored candidates are exempted from qualifying GATE requirements and there is no age limit.

A sponsored candidate must be in-service of the sponsoring organization. The sponsoring organization must specifically undertake to provide a full salary to the candidate and to relieve him/her to pursue the programme for its full duration.

For the Dual Degree Programme, the candidates should have the following qualifications:

• Educational qualifications as per DIAT norms.
• Valid GATE score (only for civilian scholarship students).
• Valid IELTS band score of 7.5 or more.
• A valid passport and Visa.

DIAT Pune MTech Admission 2023 Selection Process

Scholarship Based

The selection process for the candidates applying under the Scholarship Category:

Admission to the M. Tech programme may be made directly based on the performance of the candidate on GATE (or equivalent) or, based on both, GATE and Interview with due weight age (80% on GATE score and 20% on the interview) and with due approval of Vice-Chancellor.

Sponsored Candidates

Admission to the M.Tech program will be granted in the July Semester of each year for MoD sponsored candidates through Research & Training (R&T) and Postgraduate Training (PGT) schemes for DRDO and Tri-service officers including Coast Guard respectively.

These admissions shall be operated jointly by DIAT and RAC/DRDO (through DHRD/DRDO).

Admission to the Sponsored Candidates from other agencies or organizations will be based on the following criteria:

A candidate who is sponsored by his/her employer and who meets the additional conditions specified below may be admitted through a separate selection committee.

The sponsored candidates seeking admission to the M.Tech programme will be selected based on their performance in a qualifying examination/ interview or both.

Reservation Criteria

DIAT follows the reservation policy of Govt. of India as applicable to Higher Educational Institutions, which is:

• 15% and 7.5% seats are reserved for SC and ST category candidates, respectively.
• 27% of seats are reserved by the government for OBC category students.

How to apply for DIAT Pune MTech Admission?

Candidates can fill out the DIAT Pune MTech Admission form by following the step-by-step guide mentioned below:

• In the application form, one has to mention the courses s/he wishes to opt for.
• Followed by a section that requires the basic details of the candidate.
• One must provide the Adhar and PAN card number for identification purposes.
• The applicant has to mention his/her past academic qualifications.
• Lastly, the candidate has to sign the declaration.
• Application fee of INR 500/- (250/- for ST/SC) is to be paid either through the payment gateway or through DD drawn in favor of the Vice-Chancellor, DIAT, Pune.
• The application should be uploaded as per the instructions provided on the website.
• A print out of the application acknowledgment should be taken after uploading the application.

For the Self Financed MTech Program, candidates have to submit a scan copy of the application form with necessary documents in pdf format to mtech_admissions@diat.ac.in. However, the original hard copy of the application form with the necessary documents, the candidate must submit to the concerned department.

The acknowledgement slip along with the DD/fee slip and the copies of self-attested mark sheets and certificates has to be forwarded in a sealed envelope to the following address: Joint Registrar (Academics), Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, Pune 411025

The application will be processed only on receipt of the acknowledgement with DD/proof of online payment. Also, candidates seeking admission to more than one program (specialization) will have to apply separately.

For the Dual Degree Program

• The applicants will fill a single form for admission to the Dual Degree program.
• The form will include the details needed by CU as well as DIAT.
• The data needed by CU will be forwarded by DIAT to CU for processing application for admission to the respective M.Sc program at CU.
• Similarly, DIAT will process the application form for admission to the M.Tech program.

The admission will be offered by DIAT based on the fulfillment of the requirements as applicable for M.Sc as well as M.Tech programs of CU and DIAT respectively.
