OUAT Bhubaneswar offers a Ph.D. program in 30 specializations for a minimum duration of 3 years. The registration process for OUAT Ph.D. Admission 2021-22 will commence from August 2021 of which the official notification is yet to be released. The varsity conducts an entrance examination for admission to its Doctoral programs. The final admission is one on the candidates’ performance in the entrance exam, H.S.C., graduation, and master’s degree examination scores.

• The Ph.D. is a full-time study of three years which includes both course work and research thesis.

Candidates seeking admission to the OUAT Ph.D. 2023 program shall fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

• A Masters’ degree in a related stream with a minimum of 65% aggregate marks or OGPA of 7.00 on a 10-point scale
• Must have qualified for OUAT Ph.D. Entrance Exam 2023

OUAT Bhubaneswar Ph.D. Admission Criteria

Admissions to the OUAT Ph.D. program are entrance-exam-based. The admission is offered through online mode only, and applications can be submitted via university's the official website.

• The final selection is done on the basis of entrance mark followed by highest OGPA or percentage of marks in Master’s level, Graduation level, and 10+2 Science.
• ICAR / Departmental candidates sponsored by State Govt./Foreign Candidates nominated by ICAR/ICCR/any other statutory bodies of Govt. of India are exempted from appearing in the Entrance Examination.

OUAT Bhubaneswar Ph.D. Entrance Exam

The OUAT Ph.D. Entrance Examination 2023 is of 2 hours duration with 200 multiple choice questions of one mark each. There are no negative marks for incorrect answers. The multiple-choice questions are set as per the subjects taught in the Bachelor's Degree level and Master's Degree (major discipline), respectively.

The doctoral program in OUAT Bhubaneswar is semester-based for the duration of three years divided into 6 semesters. The coursework of OUAT Ph.D. 2023 program has short courses, compulsory courses, workshops, symposia, training programs, and thesis submission.

• For the doctoral courses in OUAT, The Instruction is offered in English under the course-credit system.
• Some major or minor courses, Dissertations, Viva, and Seminar courses are compulsory yet no-credit courses.

Program Structure

• Course Duration: A maximum period of 6 years for the Ph.D. program is allowed to the regular candidates to complete the degree program. 
• Course Schedule: Each course in OUAT Ph.D. 2023 program has credit hour that a Ph.D. student has to compulsory fulfill. As per OUAT guidelines, an academic year consists of two semesters, each having a minimum duration of 110 working days comprised of 95 Net Instructional Day (NID) and 15 examination days.
• Evaluation: The student's performance for each course unit is evaluated in terms of Assignment, mid-term, theory / practical examination, final theory, and practical examination on a 10-point scale. All students admitted into the Ph.D. course program shall submit a thesis after completion of the course program.
• Attendance: A student must have a minimum of 85% of attendance in each course, failing which they may not be allowed to appear at the Final Examination and will be detained in that semester.
• Financial Assistance: Scholarship fellowships are awarded by agencies including OUAT, Govt of Odisha, ICAR, Talent Scholarship (NTSPG). The scholarships ranging from merit scholarships of INR 2,000 per month to INR 35,000 per month for SRF are offered to doctorate students.
• Reservation: OUAT Bhubaneswar has reserved 8% of seats for SC students and 12% of seats for ST students, except for ICAR seats.
