RTU Ph.D: Fees 2025, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Rajasthan Technical University (RTU) offers a full-time and part-time Ph.D. program in 3 streams namely Engineering, Management, and Computer Applications. The minimum duration of the Ph.D. course is 3 years divided into 6 equal semesters. 

The minimum eligibility required to apply for the Ph.D. program offered at RTU is a Master’s degree in a relevant field.

The admission is granted on the basis of an entrance test, RTU-DAT which is conducted by the varsity itself.

Rajasthan Technical University Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria 

Candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. program offered at Rajasthan Technical University shall fulfill the following eligibility criteria: 

• Must have passed Master’s degree examination in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.

Rajasthan Technical University Ph.D. Admission Criteria

Admission to the Ph.D. program offered at Rajasthan technical University is done on the basis of the RTU-DAT entrance exam.

• All students will have to appear for the RTU Doctoral Admission Test (RTU-DAT). It is held separately for each specialization. 
• Based on the availability of seats in the respective department, admission will be based on merit. 
• The merit list will be announced on the basis of the results of the RTU-DAT.
• All qualified candidates will be called for an interview. 
• Documents will be verified and will be submitted for the final list of selected applicants. 
• Admission will be considered to full-time Research scholars (Indian scholars only) if they are not getting any financial assistance from any agency. 
• They won’t be allowed to take any employment during this period. 
• Students are given contingency grants in accordance with the University rules.

How to Apply?

• Register at the official website of RTU @rtu.ac.in.
• Applicants need to fill in personal information like name, age, Date of Birth, qualification details, etc. 
• Those who register successfully will receive a user id and password which must be used to log in for completing the application form.
• In the application form, enter particulars related to Personal Details, Academic Details, and Contact Details. Submit once done.
• After completing the application form, students need to make the fee payment of amount INR 3000/-
• Application fees can be paid through online mode using Debit/ Credit card or through Demand Draft
• Submit the form and take the printout of the same for future references.

Rajasthan Technical University Ph.D. Course Details

Rajasthan Technical University offers a full-time and part-time Ph.D. program in 3 specializations of which the details are tabulated below: 

Course Duration

The minimum duration of the Ph.D. program offered at RTU is 3 years divided into 6 equal semesters. The duration can be extended on the basis of regulations of the varsity.

Prescribed Coursework

• Every course will have 4 papers of 3 hours per week. It will be treated as pre-Ph.D. preparation.
• 1st paper - Research Methodology, may include quantitative methods, research aptitude, and computer application.
• 2nd and 3rd paper - As per requirement of the area. 
• Each course will be 100 marks, divided as 40 marks based on mid-term examination by term test/assignment / mini-project. Rest 60 marks will be based on the end-term examination. 
• The 4th course is of 100 marks and involves reviewing published research work in the relevant field. 40 marks for report submission and 60 marks for presentation.
• The minimum qualifying mark in each component is 50%. 
• Synopsis: The Ph.D. scholar shall submit the synopsis of his work at least two months prior to submission of the thesis.
• Thesis Submission: After the successful submission of the synopsis, candidates shall submit four copies of the thesis within the stipulated time period.

Rajasthan Technical University Ph.D. Research Fellowship

Rajasthan Technical University provides research assistantship to Ph.D. scholars provided they are not receiving financial assistance from any agency. The fellowship/contingency shall be granted initially for three years and it can be extended for subsequent years subject to the satisfactory performance of the student evaluated by the Annual Progress Review Committee (APRC). The research scholar receiving the fellowship shall give four hours of teaching assistance per week.
