VMOU offers several courses at the UG level through distance learning mode. The courses are offered in the fields of Arts, Science, Commerce, Business & Administration, Computer Science, Journalism, etc. Admission to the UG courses at VMOU is offered on the basis of merit secured in the qualifying examination. The duration of the regular UG courses is 3 years whereas, the Bachelor of Journalism, B.Lib.I.Sc. and various other preparatory programs are offered for a duration of 1 year.

VMOU offers a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) program through distance learning mode. The duration of B.Ed courses is 2 years. Admission to the B.Ed courses is done through the VMOU B.Ed entrance examination followed by counselling. Candidates who have scored a minimum of 50% marks in the bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply for admission.
In order to be eligible for admission to the VMOU B.Ed program, candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognised university.
Selection for the B.Ed program is done on the basis of scores obtained in the VMOU B.Ed entrance examination. For the final merit list, the previous academic records will also be taken into consideration.
VMOU MBA is a 2-year distance learning program at the PG level. It is offered under 3 specializations, namely, Human Resource Management, Financial Management, and Marketing Management. Admissions to the MBA program are done through the VMOU MET entrance examination conducted by the university. Candidates who hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline are eligible to apply for admission.
In order to be eligible for admission to the MBA program at VMOU, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks from a recognized university or institute. Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized university with three years of Supervisory / Managerial / Professional work experience are also eligible.
Selection for the MBA program is done on the basis of scores obtained in the VMOU MET entrance examination. Candidates having valid scores in the CAT/ MAT/ CMAT entrance examination are exempted from VMOU MET.
Note: The fee for VMOU MET is INR 1000 which is to be deposited in the Bank through e-Mitra or Online Banking.
VMOU offers several PG courses through distance learning mode. The courses are offered in the fields of Arts, Science, Commerce, Journalism, etc. Along with PG courses, the university also offers PG Diploma courses in multiple streams. The duration of the VMOU PG courses is 2 years whereas PG Diploma courses are offered for a duration of 1 year. Masters in Journalism (MJ) and Master’s in Library & Information Science (M.Lib.I.Sc) courses are also offered for a duration of 1 year.
Admission to all the PG courses (except MBA and MCA) is offered on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination. The university does not conduct any entrance test for the same. Admission to the MCA program is done through an entrance conducted by the university. VMOU also accepts lateral entry admissions to the M.Sc and MCA programs.

For Master of Computer Science Lateral Entry: A student shall be admitted to MSc.(cs) (second year) if he/she satisfied either of the following conditions: Passed PGDCA from VMOU OR Passed PGDCA from any recognised university with at least second division in Bachelor’s degree provided that 70% of the syllabi are common with that of VMOU.
For MCA Lateral Entry: Any graduate student having PGDCA of any recognised University will get admission to MCA-II year. Any graduate student having MScCS/IT/CA of any recognised university will get admission to MCA III year.
VMOU offers a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program under 18 different specializations. For admission to PhD, candidates should possess the Master’s degree in the relevant discipline. Admission to the PhD program is done through an entrance examination followed by a personal interview conducted by the university. In order to be eligible for admission to VMOU PhD, candidates should hold a master’s degree in relevant discipline with at least 55% marks from a recognised university. A relaxation of 5% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree (relevant subject) will be given to the candidates belonging to SC/ST categories of Rajasthan.
