Admission to the department is based on a combination of undergraduate marks and entrance exam results. Prospective students must submit an application to receive a hall ticket for the exam, which is conducted within the department. The outcome is posted on the BU website, and successful candidates are invited for admission. The faculty is both friendly and strict, with a strong commitment to aiding student learning and engaging in research.
The college maintains a straightforward fee structure, covering necessary costs like tuition, lab, bus, and hostel fees. Annual fees for gym and internet are also collected. Placement opportunities, especially for life sciences, are currently limited, and there is no placement training available, although interviews for the life sciences department are being planned. Students can avail internships, albeit without a stipend. Various scholarships are available, including those for SC/ST students, all postgraduate students, PhD candidates, and a specific scholarship for single girls.
Additionally, the college provides free education to one student per class who applies and takes the initiative.
