Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because of my interest and to get the NIT tag value. The student ratio is somewhat low as in my branch there are almost 30 percent are girls and then all boys The faculties are good and impressive. Almost most of all Ph.D. holders. (some of them are from NITs and IITs). Although there is a requirement for a more good teacher. Some professors are also very strict about attendance and file submissions. Here the exams are not that difficult means if you study one or two days before you will surely get a pass. Actually, there are 4 mid-sem and 2 end-sem in a year.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because my JEE rank was low. Generally, assistant professors take our classes assisted by Ph.D. scholars. Professors are highly qualified with different degrees from IITs and abroad nd Ph.D. scholars from India. This college conducts the midsem exam in September followed by end sem exam in the month of December. It's easy to pass in the exams if we follow our teachers and attend classes regularly. Absolute marking is done here.

Should I choose BIT Mesra or NIT Agartala for production engineering?

Vineet KumarStudied at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra (2019)

BIT Mesra is hands down a better choice over NIT Agartala. A few of my friends have studied at both BIT Mesra and NIT Agartala. Following points are based on their respective experience:

  • BIT has an amazing infrastructure, facilities, brand value, and student culture. Hostels are well maintained and are connected with High-speed internet facilities. The campus has a student-friendly ambiance and the weather at Ranchi is top-notch.
  • The curriculum is well balanced and up-to-date with today's technological trends. Apart from studies, the institute even focuses on various personality development and career counseling programs.
  • Many core companies visit the campus frequently and IT companies are always there for backup in the worst-case scenario so that you will not remain unplaced.
  • The only factor in which NIT Agartala seems better is in terms of tuition fees. BIT Mesra has twice the fee of NIT Agartala but it is justified for the quality of education, infrastructure, and facilities they provide.

Which is better, production engineering at NIT Agartala or ECE at NIT Mizoram?

Spandita MajumderStudied at National Institute of Technology, Agartala (2019)

Your decision completely depends on your priority as to what is the most important to you, the branch or the college. Being a graduate from NIT Agartala, I would suggest you go for NIT Agartala rather than NIT Mizoram.

  • If college is the most important to you then you should go for NIT Agartala. The infrastructure is far better than most of the NITs.
  • You may have to face some trouble regarding the faculties as they are not up to the mark.
  • If the branch is your priority go for ECE, however, Production Engineering also has grown as a department. You can make your careers in Supply Change, Quality Management, and Control, etc.
  • Other than this, your choice should depend upon the location. Give preference to the one that's closer to your home.
  • Both the colleges are tier 3 Indian engineering colleges and the graduates have been working in companies with a package of 3 to 4 lakhs per annum.
Categories Production Engineering at NIT Agartala ECE at NIT Mizoram
Course Fee 6.31 lakh 5.43 lakh
Highest CTC 8-10 LPA 6-7 LPA
Average CTC 5.5 LPA 3.5 - 4 LPA
Recruiting Companies L&T, NTPC, JP Morgan, Reliance, etc. Bharat Electronics Limited, Tech Mahindra, IBM, HP, etc.

Both branches are equally good in their own ways. But ultimately it is your decision to choose where you want to study. It is suggested that you go for NIT Agartala as it is a more experienced institution than NIT Mizoram.

What should be better: IT at UIET Chandigarh or production engineering at NIT Agartala?

Anubhav RoyB.Tech Civil Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Agartala (2012)

Both these branches are completely different in terms of the course content and then the future job description as well, so the important thing here is to know what you want and how you want to shape your future.

Comparison:

  • If you are interested in coding then you should go for IT at UIET where you may not have the most appealing packages but if you do great in that college with good grades in all 4 years then you will definitely land a well-paying job at a company like TCS or Infosys.
  • If you choose to do production engineering at NIT Agartala then there are some things that should be kept in mind, the branch itself isn’t well established and is average when you talk about faculties and the overall quality.
  • However, the NIT tag will be beneficial for your career throughout your professional life.
  • In NIT Agartala if you want to change your branch from Production Engineering to CSE or ECE, you need to maintain a minimum CGPA of 8.5 in the 1st semester. It also depends on the availability of seats in the branches that you are applying for.

The table below gives an insight into the IT program at UIET and Production Engineering program at NIT Agartala.

NIT is a prestigious government institute and its name on your degree adds a lot of weight to it but the major deciding factor here should always be what you want to do in terms of the course in both these fields. So, if you are interested in coding and want to pursue a career in the IT sector go for IT at UIET. Even if you fail to secure a job through placement, you can opt for off-campus placements.
