To seek admission in Ph.D. program, students must fulfill the eligibility criteria given below. The eligibility criteria are set the by the official authority of the university.

• Candidates who wish to apply for admission to Ph.D. program in any of the following subjects- Engineering subjects, Management, Computer Applications, Pharmaceutical Science, and Architecture must have a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks from a recognized university or institute.
• For admission to Ph.D. program in engineering subjects, Management, Computer Applications, Pharmaceutical Science, Architecture, applicants must have Master's degree or a professional degree equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body with minimum 60% marks or an equivalent grade.
• Candidates with an equivalent degree from a recognized foreign educational Institution are also eligible to apply.
• Relaxation in eligibility will be as per govt. guidelines.

The selection is done on the basis of written test and interview round. Those who will successfully qualify the written test and interview round will be considered for admission to Ph.D. program in Babu Banarsi Das University, Lucknow.

• Applicants found suitable for admission to Ph.D. program will be called for written test.
• Students must score at least 50% marks in written test.
• The syllabus of the written test will consist of 50% of research methodology including computer skills and research aptitude and 50% will be subject specific.
• All the candidates appearing in the written test will also be required to appear for an interview round in which the candidates are expected to discuss their research interest area.
• The following aspects will also be considered during the interview round:-
  • Candidate possesses the competence for the proposed research.
  • The research work can be suitably undertaken at the University.
  • The proposed area of research can contribute to new/additional knowledge
• Shortlisted candidates on the basis of their performance in both written test and interview round, will be considered for admission to Ph.D. program in BBDU, Lucknow and called for document verification and further process of admission.

Note: Applicants qualified UGC/ CSIR (JRF)/ NET are exempted from the written test, but the further process of admission will be same.
