Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad Admissions 2024: Course, Fees, Eligibility, Selection Criteria

Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) offers Bachelor of Science (Nursing) to the students who want to pursue their career in the field of medical science. The duration of the course is 4 years.

In order to seek admission in B.Sc Nursing, the candidates will be selected on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination. A merit list will be released by the university depending on the marks obtained in the qualifying degree. 

Key Note:

• B.Sc. course for all the seats is offered to only female candidates. 
• The applicant should have completed at least 17 years of age on or before 31^st December, 2021 but should not be over the age of 25 years as on 31st December, 2021.
• 3 years of relaxation is given to the candidates of the SC/ST category in the upper age limit. 
• Candidates under differently abled category will also be given reservation according to the norms of the university.
• For B.Sc, 5 Seats are reversed for In-Service Candidates working in NIMS.
• Candidates who will be selected for admission in B.Sc. Nursing have to submit the original certificate on the date of admission and have to undergo medical examination. 

Students who are keen to take up physiotherapy as their career can opt for Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) and Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) courses offered by the university for 4.5 years and 2 years respectively.

For admission in BPT, students should have studied and passed 10+2 level or equivalent in relevant discipline. The eligible candidates will then be selected on the merit basis, list of which will be made by the university.

One should hold a graduation degree in BPT to seek admission in MPT. Eligible candidates will be given admission on the basis of marks in the qualifying examination.

Key Note:

• For MPT, one seat is reserved for In-Service Candidate of NIMS who satisfies the requisite qualification and qualify himself/herself in Entrance Examination.
• For BPT, reservation rule for SC/ST/OBC candidates will be followed by taking the total number of seats, which is 15%, 6% and 29% respectively

At postgraduate level, NIMS offers Master of Medicine (MD) and Master of Surgery (MS) for a duration period of 3 years each.

In order to seek admission in MD and MS, candidates needs to appear for NEET PG. Application for NEET can be made in its official website.

Key Note:

• Candidates belonging to States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are only eligible for admission.

NIMS Hyderabad also offers superspeciality courses in the form of Doctorate of Medicine (DM) and Master of Chirurgiae (M.Ch) under various specializations for a duration period of three years each.

In order to seek admission in the above mentioned courses, students must have studied and passed Master of Medicine (MD) or Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in relevant discipline. The eligible candidates are then required to appear in the common entrance test of NEET Super Speciality which then will be followed by counseling. 

Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences also offers professional courses like Master of Hospital Management and PG Diploma for a duration period of 2 years. Apart from this, PG Diploma (Part Time ) is also offered for a duration of 1 year.

Students who want to seek admission in MHM, should have qualified their undergraduate courses in any discipline. Eligible candidates will then be selected on the basis of marks in the qualifying exam. 

Admission in PG Diploma and PG Diploma (Part Time) is done on the basis of marks scored at undergraduate level in relevant subjects. However, short-listed candidates are called for a personal interview.

At research level, NIMS offers Ph.D to the students who want to pursue higher study in the field of Medical Science.

In order to seek admission, eligible candidates will have to go through a screening test and personal interview conducted by the university.

Key Points to Note:

Candidates who have qualified for the CSIR/UGC JRF-NET or ICMR Junior Research Fellowship are exempted from screening test, however they will have to appear in personal interview
