SOA University Ph.D: Fees 2025, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

SOA PhD Admission 2023 is currently open for July session.  Admission for the Ph.D. Programme will be based on a Written Test to be conducted by the university. Both Full-time and Part-time research scholar applicants, in the Faculties of Engineering, Pharmaceutical Science, Medical Science, Dental Science, Biotechnology, Nursing, Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Law and Agricultural Science may apply. The SOA PhD admission is also open to different Departments of Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences. Also, Candidates admitted into Full-time Ph.D programme should not undertake any assignment/

SOA University PhD Eligibility Criteria:

You must have any of the following degrees to fulfill the eligibility criteria:

• M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Pharm. / M.Phil. / MHMCT / MHA / LLM / MD / MS / MDS / M.Sc. (Nursing) or equivalent in relevant discipline with a minimum of 6.75 CGPA in a 10 point scale or 60 % of marks in aggregate. 
• B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm./MCA or equivalent in relevant discipline with CGPA of 7.75 or  70 % and above marks in aggregate and one publication in a reputed National Journal and one in reputed International Journal. You should also have a minimum work experience of 2 years.
• Scientist or researcher from National Laboratories / industry and more than 10 years of research experience, two papers  Publications (One in National Journal and one in International Journal) with 6.75 CGPA or 60% in aggregate.=
• MBBS (Medical Science with 6.25 CGPA or 55 % of marks in aggregate. M. Sc. / M. Phil in Clinical Psychology with 6.75 CGPA or 60 % of marks in aggregate.
• BDS (Dental Science) with CGPA 6.75 or 60 % marks in aggregate.
• M.Sc. In Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Biotechnology and other related disciplines with CGPA 6.75 or 60 % marks in aggregate.
• M.A. in English / Economics/ Library and Information Science / Literature with CGPA 6.25 or 55 % of marks.
• Only for Business Administration: MBA/ PGDM/ (AICTE approved)/ M. Com. / MA in Economics/ PMIR/ M. Tech industrial Engineering / Public administration, with 6.75 CGPA or 60 % in aggregate.

SOA University PhD Selection Criteria

Candidates will be selected on the basis of a Online Written Test conducted by various departments of the University. On qualifying the written test, you will have to appear for an Interview. Your final selection will be based on the marks obtained in the Online Written Test and Interview combined together.

Eligible candidates will be intimated to appear the ONLINE Entrance Test. Candidates who secure 50% or more marks in the entrance test will be called for Personal Interview. Final selection will be based on the total mark secured by taking 70%  weightage of entrance test and 30% weightage for the performance in personal interview. Candidates who are exempted from appearing the written test will be called for personal interview only.

• The duration of the Entrance Test is two hours.
• The questions for the Entrance Test are multiple choice type.
• Entrance Test will have 50 questions from Research Methodology and 50 questions from relevant branch. Each question carries 1 mark.
• Personal Interview will have 40 marks for the interview, 20 marks for research publication, 20 marks for career and 20 marks for a research proposal write up.
• The dates for Entrance Test, Personal Interview as well as other dates will be made available in the University website.

The merit list for admission shall be prepared on the basis of marks obtained together in the entrance test and interview.

Exemptions: You will be exempted from giving the Written Test if you have qualified the UGC-CSIR-NET/GATE/ SLET / DBT / IMCR / ICAR / ICSSR / INSPIRE Fellowship of DST / RGNF and awarded by Teacher Fellowship and other fellowships approved by BOR from time to time.

Note: Scholarship of Rs. 20000/ per month will be awarded to deserving full time research scholars.

SOA University PhD Application Process

You can access the Application Form online on the University website.

Step 1: You must fill in the Form with the required personal and educational details, including the following details:

• Research work and publication, if any
• Record of past study as a sponsored candidate, or any other contractual obligation, if any

Step 2: You should then submit the Application Form by clicking on the “Submit” tab, after verifying all the details.

Step 3:  After the online application form is filled up and submitted, a form will be generated, and it will be available in your mail. You have to submit a print out of this form along with all supporting documents in the Office of Dean (Research & Development). Eligible candidates will be informed for Entrance Test and Personal Interview through Email ID phdregistration@soa.ac.in.

Step 4: You should paste your recent colour passport size Photograph. You must be careful not to staple the photograph.

Step 5: Enclosures: You must attach the following enclosures with the Application Form:

• Date Birth (SSC/ Matriculation or Equivalent certificate).
• All certificates and mark sheets from 10th standard onwards (including M.Phil. Degree if applicable).
• JRF certificate in UGC-Net/UGC-CSIR NET/ ICMR/ICAR/ ICSR, if applicable.
• Certificate/Score card of GATE/ GPAT/ SLET/ teacher Fellowship, if applicable.

Step 6: You should then send the duly signed Application Form along with the required enclosures to the following address:

Documents required during Personal Interview and Admission for verification:

• Date Birth (SSC/ Matriculation or Equivalent certificate).
• All certificates and mark sheets from 10th standard onwards (including M.Phil. Degree if applicable).
• JRF certificate in UGC-Net/UGC-CSIR NET/ ICMR/ICAR/ ICSR, if applicable.
• Certificate/Score card of GATE/ GPAT/ SLET/ teacher Fellowship, if applicable.
• Transfer and Conduct certificate from the Institute where the candidate last studied.
• Migration Certificate (for candidates from other than the SOA Deemed to be University).
• Integrated community certificate issued by the competent authority in case of SC/ST candidates.
• Medical Certificate from not below the rank of a Civil Surgeon in case of differently abled.
• Physical Fitness certificate.
• Service certificate and “No Objection” certificate from the present employer (for part-time candidates only).

Note: Originals of Conduct certificate, Migration certificate, Integrated community certificate, Medical Certificate, Physical Fitness certificate and No Objection Certificate are to be submitted along with photocopies

The reservation criteria will be as per the norms prescribed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
