GLS University Ahmedabad Ph.D: Fees 2025, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

GLS University, School of Doctoral Research and Innovation (SDRI) is currently accepting applications for admission to its Doctoral of Philosophy (PhD) Program for the academic session 2023-25. Interested candidates can apply by submitting their applications by June 14, 2023.

After the application process, the university will conduct PhD entrance exam on June 15, 2023 and applicants will interact with the research panel on June 22, 2023. The list of shortlisted candidates for GLS University PhD Admission 2023 will be announced on the official website on July 03, 2023.

GLS (Global Law Society) University offers a PhD degree in 5 disciplines. These are Management, Computer Application & Information Technology, Commerce, Design, and interdisciplinary courses. The degree has to be completed in a minimum of 3 years, distributed over 6 semesters, with thesis submission in at least 10,000 words.

• Applicants for admission into the PhD program at GLS University must have cleared UGC NET/UGC-CSIR NET/ SLET/UGC JRF/ GATE/ M.Phil or he\she should have cleared the GLS University entrance test - GReAT (GLS Research and Aptitude Test).
• Applicants must have a Master’s degree or MPhil degree with a minimum aggregate of 55%.
• The fee for the first year of the PhD program in any mentioned discipline at GLS University is Rs. 50,000.
• Each discipline of the PhD program has a total intake of 44 seats annually.
• The university has been ranked at 662 in India by Edu Rank.

GLS University PhD Eligibility 2023

Candidates applying for PhD courses at GLS University must have:

• A Master's degree or a professional degree certified equivalent to the Master's degree by the respective statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale.
• The qualification marks of 55% (or a similar grade in a point scale under the grading system) and the relaxation of 5% to the SC/ST/OBC- non-creamy layer/ differently-abled and others are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without incorporating the grace mark procedures.
• Candidates who have successfully cleared the M.Phil. course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale.
• Candidates who have appeared for the University's GReAT (GLS Research and Aptitude Test) and reached the cut-off score.
• Alternatively, the applicant may be exempted from appearing for the test if the applicant has cleared UGC NET/UGC-CSIR NET/SLET/UGC JRF/GATE/M.Phil. OR is holding any Teacher Fellowship for research from any national body.

GLS University PhD Admission Process 2023

• Candidates aspiring to take admission into the PhD course have to appear and qualify GLS Research and Aptitude Test, or any of the PhD. entrance examinations such as UGC NET/UGC-CSIR NET/SLET/UGC JRF/GATE.
• Candidates clearing any one of these exams will be called for an interview process. Admission will be given to the candidates on the basis of their performance in the Interview.

GLS University PhD Admission 2023: Steps to Apply

Step 1: Visit the official website of GLS University at glsuniversity.ac.in.

Step 2: Click on the PhD admission link and read the instructions carefully.

Step 3: Fill out the application form and upload the desired documents along with application fees of INR 300.

Step 4: Verify the complete online application and submit the application form. 

Step 5: Candidates will receive an acknowledgement email on the registered e-mail id. Save the same for future reference.

The candidate will get an acknowledgement through email and get related details for the schedule of the GReAT and the schedule for an interview with the Research & Development Committee. Appear for the test, if eligible. The candidate will be intimated with the result of the exam within seven days.

The applicant will get an offer of admission by email, giving particulars about payment of fees and other formalities. On acceptance of the offer, the candidate is deemed to pay the fees within the specified time. Once the candidate is admitted as a doctoral student at the university, he/she can begin the studies.

GLS University Course Details 2023

Applicants can pursue a PhD in Management, Computer Application & Information Technology, Commerce, Design, and interdisciplinary courses from GLS University. The eligible candidates after finalizing the topic of PhD research with the university’s advisory committee can start his/her studies. The thesis needs to be submitted in a minimum of 3 years or 6 semesters. Guidelines for submission and approval of the thesis are given below.

• The candidate has to draft a synopsis with the supervisor and Co-supervisor and get it approved by him/her or them within the period specified.
• From time to time, the candidate may consult the two advisors during his/her study. In such a case, the candidate shall acknowledge in his/her synopsis or thesis, the two advisors. These two advisors shall have just advisory roles. The final declaration shall be of the supervisor/ Co-supervisor only.
• The Supervisor and Co-Supervisor shall finally approve the synopsis for the Research Degree Committee presentation on the time/ date allowed by the Dean of the Department. However, a PhD scholar won't be allowed to submit a thesis before the designated minimum period of 36 months (3 years).
• Once the Supervisor/s approves the synopsis, the candidate will have to present the synopsis in front of the Research Degree Committee for the final approval.
• In case any suggestions/alterations are advised by the Research Degree Committee on the synopsis presented for approval, the candidate must edit accordingly and submit the new synopsis duly approved by the research supervisor co-supervisor. The time period for such reworks shall not be less than three weeks from the date of the first presentation. The Dean of School of Doctoral Research and Innovation may allow an extra period by using a notification of the same.
