BGU Bhubaneswar MBA Important Dates 2023

Birla Global University offers Master’s in Business Management course at postgraduate level. The course is offered under Birla School of Management (BSoM). The program aims at providing its students with the best learning environment which helps them to understand current business challenges and prepares them with the aid of updated technologies and advanced pedagogy to successfully face global business demands.

The course is offered for a duration of 2 years, i.e, six trimesters. It is offered in full time mode in 5 specializations. It is a credit based course.

Basic eligibility is graduation from a recognized institute.

Final admissions are based on national or university level entrance exams.

Admissions to MBA are also based on BET entrance score, which is conducted by the university itself. Maximum number of students admitted to the course are 120.

BGU Bhubaneswar MBA Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admissions to MBA at Birla Global University must satisfy the below mentioned eligibility criteria for successful admissions to the course:

• Candidates must have a valid graduation degree (10+2+3 system) with at least 50% marks in aggregate in relevant discipline from a recognized institute/ university.
• Candidates in the final year of their degree can also apply.
• Candidates must appear for any of the competitive examinations, i.e, CAT/ XAT/ MAT/ CMAT/ GMAT/ Entrance Examination conducted by BGU.

Entrance Exam Details  

Birla Global University conducts BET Entrance Test for MBA admissions. 

The eligibility criteria is as follows:

• Candidate should have a good academic record with a minimum 50% marks (or equivalent CGPA) in his/her Graduation (10+2+3 system) from a recognized university. 
• Candidates appearing for their final year graduation examination are also eligible to apply, however, they must submit their mark sheet immediately on the receipt of the same.

Other Entrance accepted for MBA are CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, GMAT. The exam pattern of these entrance exams are as follows:

MBA Program Structure 

MBA course structure consists of 6 trimesters including six to eight weeks internship project at the end of each semester. Below tabulated are the details:

Course Curriculum

Students are exposed to the corporate world through industry - academia interface, special guest lectures, workshops, summer internship and short term projects, all of which are a part of the course design and has to be compulsorily taken up by the students. 

Live projects and industrial visits are encouraged which help in developing students' understanding of modern business processes and practices. A two month summer internship assignment in a company is mandatory between the first and second year. 

In addition, students complete 2 -3 short term projects as well. MBA course curriculum also includes immersion course, 26 core courses, 5 specialization areas, 1 knowledge enhancement course out of 5 and 6 components of experiential learnings.

Course Duration and Credits Required

BGU offers a two year, full time residential program in management which is divided into six trimesters. During the first two trimesters, the students are provided extensive teaching in a number of core courses. 

From the third trimester onwards till the sixth trimester, students are required to complete core as well as specialisation courses. 

From the months of April to June, students are required to undertake a Summer Internship Project (SIP).

During the sixth trimester, apart from core and specialization courses, one knowledge enhancement course out of five courses is must offered. 

During the two year programme, more than 1200 hours of contact teaching are provided along with extra and co-curricular activities including special guest lecturers of two credits. In order to be eligible for the Degree, students are assessed on 137 credits throughout the programme. 

Majors and Minors

MBA offers major and minor courses from the above mentioned 5 specializations. Students are required to select 10 electives from two specialized areas only i.e. 6 from major specialization areas and 4 from minor specialization areas. Specialisation courses are spread over four trimesters, i.e, from

Trimester-III to VI. A counselling session is held in the second trimester based on which students can opt for specialization areas. An elective will be offered only when seven or more students opt for it. 

Pedagogy 

It includes lectures, industry visits, simulations, case method, summer internship project, business seminars and short term projects.

• Students have to pay the security deposit of INR 10 K & Medical Insurance of INR 3 K.
• Students with higher marks are eligible for scholarships.

BGU Bhubaneswar MBA Scholarships

Birla Global University provides scholarships to its MBA students in two different schemes. Scheme 1 offers 15% tuition fee waiver as scholarship while under scheme 2, tuition fee waiver of 10% is provided. 

To be eligible for any of the two scholarships, candidates must have secured more than 60% or equivalent CGPA in 10th, 12th and graduation. 

Also, a minimum percentile of 60 in CAT/ XAT/ GMAT/ MAT/ CMAT/ Entrance conducted by BGU is necessary.
