Admission Requirements for International Students

Elmhurst College English Proficiency Test Scores

International students are required to provide English proficiency test scores to be considered for admission at Elmhurst University. The minimum requirements for each of the tests are discussed below.

International students who want to attend the Elmhurst Collegiate Immersion Program will need to submit a video and personal interview to determine their level of English proficiency.

US Visa for International Student

International students who wish to study in the USA at Elmhurst University should submit all the application materials necessary to obtain an i-20 form which will be issued by the university.

• An i-20 form is mandatory for international students to apply for a student visa.
• To get an i-20, a student should fill in the application form, complete the application checklist by submitting all the materials required, then wait for the acceptance letter and form i-20.
• For that, financial documentation including a bank statement and a letter from the bank declaring financial stability as well as an official copy of the passport is required.

After the issuance of an i-20, the student can proceed with the F-1 or J-1 student visa application. To obtain a student visa, the student must contact the embassy or consulate in their home country and attend an interview with some official documents. The payment of the SEVIS fee which is 350 USD is necessary along with it. The interview requires the following documents:

• A passport that will be valid beyond the student’s stay period in the US (for at least six more months).
• Completed visa application and receipt of visa application fee.
• The SEVIS fee receipt.
• I-20 form issued from Elmhurst University along with acceptance letter.
• DS-160 application confirmation page along with barcode and application ID number.
• Fee payment of MRV, confirmation receipt.
• Scholarship or sponsorship letters (if applicable).
• Health examination form.
• Photographs in the requested format.
• Academic transcripts/diplomas/degrees from all institutions attended previously.
• Standardized test scores/English proficiency test scores like SAT, TOEFL.
• Financial evidence verifying proof of abundant funds.

After all the documents have been submitted and the interview is over, the student should get in touch with the consular officer regarding the inclusion of any other documents or completing any other steps. The embassy will evaluate properly and let the candidate know if they have been accepted for a student visa. After that, a stamp will be issued on the passport, which will act as the visa to the US.
