Our Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) accredited program prepares students with the listening, problem-solving, diagnosis, treatment planning and case consultation skills needed for a successful future in the field. The program consists of 60 credits, which allows you to create relationships with area leaders for future opportunities, plus see the skills, theories and ethics utilized in the practice.

Graduates of our program will be prepared to work as licensed, professional, mental health counselors in a variety of settings. The mental health counseling program satisfies the state educational requirements leading toward professional licensure and prepares students to sit for a licensing exam. Students interested in becoming a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor can also take additional coursework to prepare for the state exam.

Academic Requirements:

  • Applicant must have completed bachelors degree/masters degree or advanced degree program
  • Submit official transcripts of all previous education
  • A cumulative GPA of minimum 3.0 is recommended for the applicants for admission
  • GRE exam is recommended for applicants but is optional
  • Submit two letters of recommendation
  • Submit your resume that should include professional details, history and academic background
  • Submit statement of purpose in less than 500 words describing your personal background
  • Students need to undertake an interview for admission consideration
  • Submit English Language Proficiency test scores

English Language Requirements:

  • TOEFL: minimum score of 71 in iBT
  • IELTS: minimum score of 6.0
  • PTE: minimum score of 55
