Founded in the year 1901, Sweet Briar College is a private women’s college in Sweet Briar, Virginia. It offers pre-professional, masters, and bachelor programs in diverse majors in the US Education System. The women’s leadership core curriculum is highly innovative. Campus
- The college is ranked consistently as one of the most beautiful campuses in the country and the fourth-largest U.S Liberal Arts College with a campus that sprawls across 3,250 acres in the foothills of Blue Ridge mountains.
- The campus has a beautiful setting among hills and forests. The campus is recognized to be amazing with 2 lakes, 18 miles trails, and 8 nature sanctuaries. Twenty-one buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places.
- The campus conducts outdoor programs and seminars. They are around 50 clubs in the college. The students gain experience in writing, speaking, critical thinking, and work-related skills.
Residence
- They are 7 residence halls and a modern apartment complex that offers on-campus living for the students. Every residence hall is equipped with Wifi, Washers and Dryers, elevators, and Lounge area. Some of them are:
- Carson Residence Hall: A three-storeyed building with single, double, and triple sharing bedrooms.
- Dew Residence Hall: A four-storeyed residence hall that houses students with single, double, triple, and quad sharing bedrooms.
- Meta Glass Residence Hall: A five storeyed hall that has double rooms with kitchen and laundry.
- Reid Residence Hall: A four-storeyed building with a kitchen and a common area.
Off-campus housing apartments are located in proximity to the college and suitable for married and adult students.
Programs
- The programs offered by the college include undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees.
- The undergraduate programs offered include Bachelor of Science(B.S) and Bachelor of Arts(B.A) for a span of 3 years with a trimester pattern. One month of the semester is for the students to have an application based learning where they can take on an internship, training course, or learning something new.
- Since the college has various programs of study, the students can do their minors in a subject which is very different from their main subject.
- The graduate course offered is a Master of Teaching (M.A.T). It is a one/two-year program for the students who have pursued their bachelor's degree from the same college or a different university. But for the undergraduates who are pursuing their degree from the Sweet Briar College can obtain the degree of MAT in five years but they have to do their majors in particular subjects.
