  • MS in Computer Science at New York University offers a high degree of curriculum flexibility, enabling you to customize your program according to your educational and professional background, as well as your ambitions and goals.
  • The master's program curriculum comprises of four elements: a 3-credit algorithm component, a 12-credit core elective course component (one of which may include the capstone course), a 3-credit capstone course component, and a 12-credit general elective course component.
  • To satisfy the requirements for the master’s degree, the student must complete 30 credits,with an overall average of B. In addition, a B average is required across the required algorithms course and the four core courses, and a grade of B or better is required for the capstone course

  • Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree in computer science, mathematics, science, or engineering, from an accredited institution, with a superior academic record.
  • Applicants with degrees in other fields will also be considered for admission on an individual basis. 
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher, in a completed degree program, bachelor’s degree or above is required.
  • Additional Requirements: 
    • A minimum of one year of science courses at the university level.
    • Proficiency in a high-level, general-purpose programming language (preferably C++).
    • A basic understanding of computer fundamentals such as computer organization and operation, data structures, and computer architecture.
